I think it’s quite an achievement to foster a community over the span of decades. A lot of change is to be expected as people enter new seasons of their lives.

I miss thinking GOP voters just had a difference of opinion rather than realizing they're morally and ethically bankrupt.

I miss thinking you could have a meaningful conversation with a GOP voter rather than deflecting a steady stream of BS.

I miss thinking the average American wasn't a complete moron.

This board is exactly what it should be given the current situation in the US. If people weren't ranting over the MAGA screw-ups in this country, I'd be way more worried.

Trump voters like ceeboo can't defend their vote, so they don't try. He knowingly voted for a convicted criminal. How does someone defend that? No, it's easier to blame everyone else for their problems and lie about reality in general.

So yeah, why would anyone want to strike up a conversation with someone who refuses to own their crap? They're a waste of time and space.

Conversations with dishonest people are fruitless. What's the point?

Missing what this board once was.

A place that provoked thought - a place where I found myself reflecting - a place where I was intrigued - a place where I learned things - a place that discussed interesting subjects/topics on a fairly regular basis - a place that delivered diverse and fascinating exchanges - a place that challenged me - a place that was quite enjoyable to partake in.

Anyone else miss what once was?

And yet, this board remains the only board that, by his own admission, has not banned ceeboo from participation. One has to wonder what it is that he misses.

On a personal note, I recall when ceeboo argued that addressing sexist statements toward a participant here was not sexist if the person he directed his sexism toward was female (me). He eventually was convinced otherwise, we thought, but maybe it was against his will.
