This afternoon I read Hubbard's book on him. AN ACCOUNT OF SA-GO-YE-WAT-HA or Red Jacket and his people. It had something about terrible things happening if the Indians converted to Christianity, similar to III Nephi.

Changing religion, custom and habits = Change into white or black men.

Whatever the writer of Book of Mormon meant, we know what the leaders and prophets took it as literal: “..Shall I tell you the law of God in regard to the African race? If the white man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain, the penalty, under the law of God, is death on the spot.
