I just saw this after posting another thread.

It was a sad funeral. I am so grateful I got to meet both Kishkumen and Ms. Nobody and Mr. Nobody and buy them lunch afterwards. I appreciate that we all were able to support Don and be there for him. He needed it. I now know the actual face of grief live and cried along with him. He will heal, but it won't be for a while. I also got to shake Steve Smoot's hand and find out he and his wife were married a year ago. I had no idea he got married, and I got to talk to Jack Welch of FARMS and Chiasmus fame as well as shake hands with Neal Rappleye and his wife. I also saw one of the Midnight Mormons (can't remember his name) but I pointed at him as I was walking by out of the chapel and said "You! You look familiar." And he pointed back and said "You look familiar too!" I also got to briefly talk with Matt Roper. That was pretty much everyone I knew. I got to meet and get acquainted with a gent Alex Criddle as well! VERY cool guy and we are going to have enormous amounts of conversations!

Just remember this. Tell your kids or parents or whoever in your family you love them. Tell them that more often than you do. I promise it's worth the effort.
Thank you for being there, Philo Sofee. I know it meant a whole lot to Don that you and the Nobodies were there. Thanks also for sticking around and treating us to lunch. It was nice to step back and recharge a little before you all had to hit the road. I can add that the wake was lovely. A lot of memories of Donnie were shared. I was even called upon to share my memories of Donnie, a young man I was always impressed by but did not get to know as much as I feel I was somehow owed. I know I was not exactly owed, but I still feel cheated. Donnie and I had a lot of shared interests (like a love of Aesop Rock), but he was a genius, whereas I stumble along through life. It is one thing to lose someone. Much worse to lose someone so young, and the further tragedy is to consider all he could have done in and for the world. And he was just the kind of brilliant, compassionate young person one imagines doing many salutary things for his fellow beings.
A very nice funeral service. I am thankful, by all Don has told me about Donnie, that I felt like I already knew him, although I never got to meet him face-to-face. It was nice meeting Donnie and Jasmine's family members as well. May we all take the time to show our love to our own family members and friends, as this life is like a mist as scripture says. I enjoyed meeting Alex as well, and whomever asked about what I thought about his hair, yes, it is beautiful!

In late September 2022, Don and Alex spent a couple days at my house while they were on a historical research trip here in Central New York State. Alex enjoyed looking at my old antiquarian stuff, except for right after he showered following our hike through the forest . . . because he was afraid his long hair might drip on the old books and manuscripts!

Thank you, attendees, for your return and reports.
Our good pleasures......
It was an honor to be there and learn more about such a remarkable young man.

Both fine gents. Although the occasion was deeply sad, it was comforting to see Alex again.

A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. ~ Proverbs 18:24

You all have been that to Don Bradley.

He makes it easy, as he is a such a kind and caring person.

Very true. And so are you!
