And I think we can thank Rush Limbaugh (I smile involuntarily every time I remember he's dead) and his ilk for that. Him, Sean Hannity, Mark Lavine, and a host of others are paid millions of dollars to train Americans to hate Democrats.

Re: Reasons People Vote Trump
My view is a bit broader: Hating each other (not simply hating Democrats) is the elephant in the room. It is not just one side that is hating or selling hate to their perspective consumers who can't seem to get enough of it) - unfortunately, this targeted hate is leveled against a great number of individual and complex human beings, all who have various political beliefs about a wide variety of political topics. This hatred toward people, that we don't even know, is what lies at the very roots of the extremely wide division we find in our country at the moment.
In my opinion, this division (created mostly by hatred) is by design from those in power.

Correct. A great example is Trump.
The other part of that hate machine is provided by an industry created to specifically peddle hate. This seems to have been a specialty of right-wing radio, as example (for which there exists few, if any, counter-examples from the left).
It isn’t about ‘hating Democrats’ so much as hate in general, for anything that can be used as a scapegoat.
