I love the fence treatment; was it painted that way when you purchased the property?

Nah, that was my ‘art project’. Looking straight back, and if you could take in the whole view, the left side was a series of reds and purples transitioning to blues, and then on the right transitioning to greens to yellows. Basically, when I was in Lowes or Home Depot I’d go by the paint section, skim the mis-tint section, buy a tin if it fit in the color scheme, and then I’d paint a slat or two when I was bored or the spirit moved me.

Funnily enough, the Gay guy who bought our property lost his crap over that. So. Yeah. I’m basically Gay now.

One of the great things about it is how it creates a subtle line of contrast between the greens in the foreground, and that bland CMU block building behind the fence. That builds depth as opposed to subtracting from it, and you’ve ended up featuring colors that are more uncommon in flowers - so, another opportunity for contrast. (ツ)_b

I can't believe I'm doing this. I know I've posted crafty things in the past that I've made but showing these is super hard for me. It actually makes me feel sick. I'm not joking.

‘Feel sick’? I told myself years ago that I’d learn ‘how to do’ watercolor, and I still have never learned past dipping the brush in water (although I do have a great book on the subject, lol). You’re actually doing it.

I’m partial to aspen, so I’m especially interested in seeing any more that you do with those. But, really, you have absolutely no reason to feel sick about anything you’re showing. With as difficult as watercolor painting is, things are looking good!

Oooo, those are awesome. Do I see foxglove and salvia (or is that Lavender … Lavance?). Poppies (nice pods, they look exactly like how they grow), and goldsturm? What are the pink flowers with seven + petals?

Oh god yes, sick. It's because I know what I know how to do and I know what I don't know how to do. I know that I don't know how to paint. The Aspens trunks are thick because I use half sheets for my trials and I was trying something with the bark so I needed more space. I cut an old credit card into strips to drag the paint in from the sides to make the bark. It kind of worked out I think.

I can post some of what I make and sell. I feel confident about those and don't mind doing that at all. That'll help cushion the blow from posting the painting.

Have you experimented with resist or color-shifting dyes yet?

The print you’re purchasing looks as if it may use resists to create those crisp snowflake profiles.

Oh nice, another blind person replied. The potted plant is Lavender. I tried to copy it from an image I saw. The one's you think are Foxgloves are the Lupines in my yard. I sat there and studied them. Took photos and brought it back into my little studio and tried to paint them. The pink flowers are nothing, I made them up in my head. The yellow flowers are supposed to be wild Sunflowers, actually Black Eyed Susan's is what I had in mind. Yes, those are Poppies. I found a large one in my painting cube that is more like a California Poppy but I didn't post it. I have a large one of trial Pansies, too. I feel like I painted my Irises, but I don't know what I did with it. The Aspens I made up in my head. What I want so much is to be able to paint Aspens and Pines. That's why I buy the work of others. Because it's so good and I can't do it.

The only resist painting I know about is what I used with my classes. Using white crayon on paper and painting over it. So, I don't know the two items that you're referring to there. I know how to do salt effects and that sort of thing, I think if I were going to do snowflakes I'd spatter with bleach. What do I know? I don't even like my watercolor paints. They are in tubes and they seem chalky or gritty. I have watercolor paint brush markers that I use for paper crafting when using stamps and coloring in the images. The photos I posted are all done with fairly good quality real watercolor brushes.

I bought a set of oils in tubes. I was going to try following a video of Bob Ross over winter. I get stuck inside a lot in winter. That's when I will spend hours trying to paint or working on crafts.
