Cam I really enjoyed seeing the examples of your garden art and what you all have done to your property and house! Was that a Victorian style mail box in the before photo? Your place gives me cottage vibes and I love it. There's a method of bulb planting called lasagna layering. Maybe you did that but if not, you can find it somewhere on Garden Answers on youtube. It's basically succession planting with bulbs.

The flowers in front are to die for! Do you have them on a drip system or what? I can have exactly nothing like that where I live and it's so beautiful! Reminds me of gardens in Jersey that are so effortless to grow there.

I dunno, maybe I will take a pic and post it of my watercolor trials. I feel a bit self conscious about it because they aren't near as nice as you and honor can do. Seriously look like a child did them which is pretty much were it's at for me. Will think about it...I mean you guys don't know me so it's not like you're going to come graffiti the house with "stupid wannabe artist lives here".

I almost bought that Winter Path art because it looks so much like our Ponderosas. I opted for the first on account of the stream and the cabin tucked back behind the trees. That's kind of what it feels like here when it snows.

I just got an idea for a new thread. When I get the mental energy to post it I will.
Just to be clear the art above isn’t mine, just that’s what I approximated. And by approximate I mean Kindergarten-tier talent, but it’s still fun. Post your stuff, Jersey Girl. It’s funner than bitching about vaccines and politicians.

Our intent is to make it into a Piet Oudalf creation.
Doc Cam, I had to look up Piet Oudolf. The result was well worth the time and effort. Thank you.

edit: And thank you for starting this thread, Jersey. Though watercolor landscapes aren't usually my cup of tea, these are beautiful.
I'm happy you liked viewing them! Some of the pieces are very moody, abstract, and not my cup of tea either but overall, I appreciate the offerings. Did you notice they have seasonal work? I honestly don't know when they run sales but that'd be nice to check into seasonally if you're of a mind to.

I'll post when the print is delivered just to follow up on how that went.

I understood that it wasn't your work, Cam. I have tried sunflowers and poppies myself but I don't think I kept those. I will take a couple of pics tomorrow (lighting isn't good right now) and try to summon the nerve to post them. My family says they were good tries but they have to love lie to me.

I was thinking of doing a thread about what people here make. Anyone have an opinion if I should make another thread or open this one up for that since it's already rolling in that direction?

The backyard had a lot of fun features like a pollinator and veg garden, ponytail grasses, hundreds of Spring bulbs that’d pop out of the ground:

Image

^ that was the first season after we planted them the Fall prior. They ended up blanketing the open area where we had them; it was really something to see. We sold our place in SLC and moved to the boonies to be closer to the mou’ains, and we’re in the process of doing a similar thing here. We literally planted about 5,000 bulbs so we’re excited to see what happens.
Doc, I really hope that you update us with photos of the yard’s development come spring.

Sure, maybe the Ouldolf thing will inspire the green thumbs here. I hope so! By the time we moved to Smalltown, UT the veg garden situated behind the pergola was packed with a ‘five sisters’ set up - corn, beans, squash, sunflowers, peas along with 🍅 , 🌶 🫑, sunchokes, berries, and some other things like mints and lemon balms. Off to the right of the pergola it was absolutely packed with pollinators - I wish we had taken a pic. This pic below was taken at the end of April/beginning of May, so garden stuff wasn’t in, yet.

This is basically what the pollinator garden looked like minus the hill and rocks, of course:

edit: i found one pic on my phone. It’s just one small bit of our pollinator garden, but it gives you an idea of what we had:

Here's the print I chose: https://collectionprints.com/collection ... d-winter-1
Jersey Girl, I imagine that the print you ordered looks pretty similar to the beautiful wooded scenery that you get to see around you every day. Now you can have a little of it inside your favorite room. : )

Those look like purple coneflowers, with some black-eyes Susans. They’re great choices for drought-resistant plants with a long flowering window.

I love the fence treatment; was it painted that way when you purchased the property?

Nah, that was my ‘art project’. Looking straight back, and if you could take in the whole view, the left side was a series of reds and purples transitioning to blues, and then on the right transitioning to greens to yellows. Basically, when I was in Lowes or Home Depot I’d go by the paint section, skim the mis-tint section, buy a tin if it fit in the color scheme, and then I’d paint a slat or two when I was bored or the spirit moved me.

Funnily enough, the Gay guy who bought our property lost his crap over that. So. Yeah. I’m basically Gay now.

I can't believe I'm doing this. I know I've posted crafty things in the past that I've made but showing these is super hard for me. It actually makes me feel sick. I'm not joking.
