Even if Ajax were right about everyone getting covid-19 inevitably anyway, no matter what we do, it is certainly possible to slow the rate of spread of the disease and delay that inevitability by social distancing and mask usage. The more we can slow, spread out and delay that inevitability, the less will be the strain on hospitals and healthcare professionals, and the greater will be the survival rate of the victims under the care of said healthcare professionals.

Well, of course! Now if we could only convince people like ajax that in the meantime, we still need to mask, social distance, and, if that does not bring down the new cases fast enough, temporarily resort to quarantines and lockdowns.

By the way, out of curiosity, is "minimise" the correct spelling in GB, rather than "minimize", as is correct, according to standard U.S usage, or did you just make the first spelling error I ever saw you make? I know there are some differences between U.S. and British orthography. Is this one of them?

I am something of an oldfangled outlier in using the 'minimise' form, which is permitted, and recorded as a possible usage in the Oxford English Dictionary entry, but not very common. The Times newspaper changed its editorial policy to prefer-ize forms in 1992.

Its already an established fact that many deaths attributed to Covid are done so because deceased tested positive even though other circumstances were the cause. Likewise, a car accident victim testing positive for Covid is likely counted as a Covid death.
