If I lived in Redding, I would want to head to Whiskey Town Lake most summer days. Half Moon Bay below San Francisco seems a very nice place to be.

dantana, i enjoyed your little reflection on climate. I have thought the area pleasant relaxed and mild. I once years ago visited someone living outside of Cave Junction . I stayed in a spartan but well made tree house as a motel. Someone has claimed that these days you can smell the marijuana all the way to....dantana wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 1:53 amIn looking about for the perfect climate for year round living, I'm surprised more people aren't in the Rouge river area. Maybe it's because of it's isolation and distance from major city hubs. Anyway, It's latitude puts it just below the wet weather patterns of the Pacific Northwest, but above the scorching heat of CA's Redding summers. Yet, it still has the trees and green that many people desire. It's inland enough to miss the coastal rain of Coos Bay, yet still on the west side of the Cascades to be not in the desert of say, Klamath Falls or the desolation of Lakeview. (Similar latitude) And, close enough to the coast to get ones ocean fix in an hour and a half
So, for me, if I had a choice, I'd pick ... Kona.
Well maybe not Lakeview which might come across as almost otherworldly. But if you are looking for out of the way , north of Lakeview is Wagontire. Last time I passed by there I think only the memory of a gunfighter and a drunk were currently staying there.
Kona? I am clueless

Kona, the main city on the dry/lee side of the big Island, Hawaii. 75 degrees F. all day, all night, all year. And, believe it or not, much more affordable and less populated than Moksha's excellent pick of Half moon bay CA. There are Californians there, along with Utahns and etc.-ans but nobody notices 'cause island time fixes them pretty quickly.
