Good eye. Perhaps Anubis was hunched over like this:

Or like this:

Man, the more I notice the old gluing the more damning it is that there used to be papyrus there.

How much of that glue was there because it was spread on the paper with a cloth or trowel like tool prior to the papyrus being set in place and how much gluey paper actually had papyrus stuck to it that has since come off or was intentionally removed. The trick is solving *that* based on everything we now know. I have to think we can understand more by studying the details, thinking outside the box, base everything on the conclusion that the Book of Abraham is false and Joseph lied , and make honest determinations.

Those inked lines you indicated with blue arrows are just part of what was originally on the paper when it was recycled, I think.

Apologists mock their own scripture to get a laugh

Post by Shulem »

Apologists make a mockery of their own scripture in order to get a laugh and raise a little humor.

But the bottom line, they all know, in their hearts, that ANUBIS is ANUBIS and that a jackal head was original to the papyrus. They know that. John Gee knows it too. It's a struggle for apologists to have to excuse the priest's head in Facsimile No. 1. It's an utter embarrassment. Nothing to be proud of. It's a liability to their cause.

:D That’s... actually more accurate than what their prophet came up with? How do you get so close, and yet remain so stupid?

Clean cut across chest?

Post by Shulem »

Doctor CamNC4Me,

I'm looking close at the horizontal cut across the chest located due right of the red box. It also cuts into Anubis's strap with a circular notch. I'm guessing this may have been a cut made by a tool to begin the process of stripping out a piece of papyrus. Papyrus consists of pressed plant that is layered crisscross, giving it strength. But notice there is a vertical downward cut off that same line wherein it looks like a perfect angle or square.

Would you be so kind as to blow up (magnify to the max) the fragment here and crop out some shots and rotate them at different angles so we can see the cut from different perspectives. I would appreciate it very much if you would do that.

Mark of the Square?

Doctor CamNC4Me,

I'm guessing this may have been a cut made by a tool to begin the process of stripping out a piece of papyrus. Papyrus consists of pressed plant that is layered crisscross, giving it strength. I should point out that the remainder of the fragment (JSP I) and the two sister fragments (more particularly JSP XI) do not have cuts of this nature. The cuts in question seem to be precise and we have almost a perfect square. Investigation into whether these cuts were caused by modern tools using hand/finger pressure to induce breakage is hereby warranted.

Now, if it can be determined that there is reasonable evidence to show that these cuts on the breast of Anubis are indeed made by the hand of an artisan handling the papyrus, then I should like to classify this new finding as:

Mark of the Square

This is because the cuts are in a square form, much like a Mason's measurement tool:
