Well...I don't know Gaz personally however I have an impression of him from reading his posts. I would describe Gaz as a TBM who is open to thinking about and exploring various theologies and doctrines, including his own. He has received digs against his church and handles them without hostility. He seems very level headed, the kind of person who is willing to consider opposing viewpoints without responding to them in extreme ways. He's got a good sense of humor!

I'll second that
I think Jersey Girl has accurately described Gaz from what I can tell interacting with him. Seems like a pretty nice guy.

My impression is that he is a recently forgiven sinner(according to Mormon standards) and is here as part of his own self assigned penance.
He feels he has seen a change in his life that he perceives as improvement and thinks that he can extend this same experience to others on this board.
Gaz, give it up bud. I can guarantee you will not suck any exmormon on this board back into the vortex. We know too much.
You know my requirements. Found that stone box yet?

I think Gaz is a lot like I used to be. I think he's got a lot of doubts about "The Church"© but he keeps saying to himself "It's GOT to be true." I think he masturbates on average about twice a week and doesn't feel guilty when he does it because he's been doing it for so long. However, he DOES feel guilty when he lies to his Bishop about it. I think, like myself 10 years ago, Gaz likes to think he knows most of the "answers" to the anti-Mormon questions and problems but he's also in denial about the fact that some of his answers need a SERIOUS stretch of reason and common sense to believe. Especially when it comes to Joseph Smith's "translation" of the Book of Abraham papyri.
I think Gaz will someday read some anti-Mormon stuff when he doesn't have his guard up and the truth will smack him like a ton of bricks. He will then leave the cult and thank the person that made the website that had the anti-stuff on it that opened his eyes. He will thank the person over and over for the rest of his life.

P.S. Hey Shades, thanks again. ;-)

Thanks , I'm Flattered.
If anyone has a specific questions, I'm an open book. Married for 13 1/2 years, 3 kids. Raised in the church by parents who were converts. Extended family are anti-mormon Southern Baptists. Served a mission in Scotland from Dec.90-92. haven't always been faithful and steady to the things I know are true. that's just lazines on my part. I plan on returning to the Temple next Month. I'm not guilty of any great sin other than not obeying the Law of consecration.
I had a powerful witness of the Holy Ghost that these things are true. Not a simple burning in the bosum, but the actual presence of the Holy Ghost, therefore that is to say I felt the presence of God himself in the room in responce to prayer. This is a Good thing in that I now have a firm foundation on which to base my faith, or rather a place to view my faith from. It is only a bad thing in the sence that I will in fact be held accountable for all my actions from that point, because a witness has been given and "Where much is given, much is required"
Thanks for the inquiry

Oh man, you missed it! So you went through the Mormon masonic house of handshakes AFTER the 1990 changes... bummmer, you did not get to do the blood oaths. The new ceremony is so boring without those...Gazelam wrote:Thanks , I'm Flattered.

A few questions about your experience if I may?I had a powerful witness of the Holy Ghost that these things are true. This experience gave you the impression that the Mormon faith IS IN FACT the only divine religion of God?
What about people of other faiths with the same exact experience?
Is their experience false? Is yours? Are they both?
Mormon theology does not allow for both of the experiences to be equal.
