The Avatar the GIMR is using is from a Diary of a Mad Black Women

I understand precisely why she is using that AVATAR

Dame Edna is nothing like Madea...at least I don't think so.....Madea has no problem spekaing her mind and standing up for the ones she loves...

Dame Edna was a white man Okay...not black okay you are still missing GIMR's point oh well

What point might that be? How can you tell if I am missing it?

Jason Bourne wrote:Hi GIMR,

I am sorry for you and the bad experiences you had. Wards are different and diverse. Some are much like what you described. Others are not. The ward I live in is mostly loving and kind to any who attend. There are some jerks sure. But maybe because it is a diverse ward full of variuous races-some black, a number of hispanicp-we have quite a growing group of mexicans that do not speak english and we accomadate them evey way we can with tranlators-we even bought a system where the translator can use a wireless system and the spanish speaking member can listen on a head set. We have a sunday school class for those who speak spanish as well. One of our spanish members recently was asked to speak in stake conference too! It was cool. Our ward also ranges from the very poor to middle class with a few upper middle class members though nobody is really wealthy. Maybe you would have liked our ward.

Also, I do not agree that Jesus is takes a back seat. Again, not in my ward.

As for your experience as a black person in the Church I trust yuor feelings. I am not black so I cannot begin to understand what it may have been for you. I hope where you are now brings you joy. You have had a hard life and you deserve joy.

Blessings to you.

Hey Jason,

It seems that your ward is full of people who really understand what it means to be a disciple. That makes me happy. Thank you for not invalidating my feelings like others have. It's all to easy to call someone a racist in this situation, or to say they worship affirmative action or the NAACP. Those things are not the issue.

I know a handful of people who I think, if they existed in larger numbers, would really be a positive and dynamic force in the church. Thanks for being among them.

Loran, or whoever the hell you are. Um, personal attacks don't win this war dear. Sorry. Now take off the Juliann costume and go back to where you came from.

Something else that indicates that this whole sad story is just that...a story, or that this person is miserable, always has been, and brougth that misery, anger, rage, guilt, self pity, and frustration into her church experience, which inevitably corrupted it and her relationships with others in it, and led her out of the church to what she perceives as easier and greener pastures.
Bravo! Put the blame on her for not conforming! Do you finally see that Mormonism not for everyone? It only fits certain personalities.

Bottom line is this is a white man's church.

All non white baptisms are for the sole purpose of keeping the lilly white tithes flowing in from the lilly white asses.

Thank you, PP. Loran is probably one of Juliann's clones.

Either that or yet another regurgitation of some fool who insists on painting me as crazy rather than doing some introspection. *laughs*

Thank God this isn't the new asylum board better known as MA&D...these folks would have a heyday.

By Loran's definition I was a f*ckup to begin with, and that was my problem. Uh-huh.

Loran:

All this demonstrates is that, so far, you appear to be a sanctimonious, self righteous, whining liberal who claims to have had such and such terrible life experiences, but then dishes out a church exit story that bears all the standard marks of either having been written by a committee or derived from a standard script, and which contains material that clearly could not be true of most Mormons or the Church and are clearly your own creations. If, in any way, I minimize those claims, that is the reason. Your story would be fine if it were not for the standard exmo formatting of the narrative.

And I know why you don't like Julianne: you can't possibly refute or her arguments or tunn the tables on her in an open debate. She's far too knowlegable and far to shrewed an observer of the exmormon cultural and intellectual culture to let you do that.

Now, from a psychological standpoint, you very well may be "crazy" in the sense of being trapped within a personal tradition of poor, self destructive, self sabotaging thinking strategies and patterns, and carrying psychological and emotional baggage that creates perceptual distortions that make some normal developmental taskd of life quite difficult. All of us are a little crazy in that sense. I understand that perfectly. What bothers me are the other elements of your story that are clearly contrived.

Its great to see I'm now being thought of as Julianne in drag (I'm male, in all actuality) as she's a very educated and knowledgeable lady, with an excellent grasp of LDS doctirne and the exmo world. However, I'm not her and I hope she's not me. But thanks for the compliment.
