It's one thing to have faith, but faith without reason leads to blind faith, which gets you drinking Kool-aid or waiting for the comet.

The good Lord gave you a brain. Did He mean for you not to use it?

Ultimately, the truth, wherever that may lead, is more preferable than the alternative.

Like I wrote elsewhere, the truth may be that we're all just one big alien DNA experiment.

Who knows? But I will surely question and investigate the claims of anyone who claims to speak for God, and make up my own mind.

You must do what is best for you, my friend. I suppose I don't take "life" on this board as seriously as I did at first, because I personally don't want to get into the type of cycle that I was in at FAIR. If you care too much, you hurt too much. It's not that I don't care about the church, because that would mean I don't care about my friends there. I just don't want to get emotionally involved in the things I percieve to be wrong anymore. They're things and attitudes I cannot change. I agree that the atmosphere of this board has going down lately, and even though I too am guilty of adding to it (picking with Wade is just too much fun sometimes), I know it's not always a good thing. It's like torturing your little brother, you know it's wrong, but it's hard to stop.

It's important to spend time with your family, and an online community is no substitution. Do what feels best for your heart. No one here who has any sense would fault you for that. May you and your family enjoy the rest of God, and peek in sometimes when you feel like it.

I applaud your choice in spending more time with your family and for endevouring to do those things that will add real meaning and value to your life. Doing the former will bring out the best in you, while doing the latter exposes the not-so-good in you. The former will help improve the quality of your life, while the latter will taint and degrade you and those towards whom your denegrating is directed. The former will keep the focus where you would like (towards the health and welfare of your family), and not where you dislike (on you).

You really can be a condescending jerk. If the above diatribe is reflective of your "sacred faith," then you are the antithesis of a follower of Christ.

I think this board would function just fine with Mormons like Rollo, Harmony, Liz, Mok, et al. The extreme fundamentalists who insist on staying and doing nothing but calling those who refuse to be like them names has taken away the board's flavor.

There's nuttiness on both sides. I enjoy being nutty sometimes. But it would be nice to have a deep discussion without Wades diatribes or Loran's racial insinuations. Even Gaz I feel comfortable with, I may not agree with him, but he's not downright mean for the sake of protecting the church.
