It is only complicated if one believes ancient ideas are factual and from God, or that some of the hundreds of millions of people are actually really hearing the voice of God.

I see no need for moral relativism whatsoever.

Do you know any absolute moral laws that do not have an exception? Lying, stealing, killing? If they do have exceptions, what are the laws relative to? I mean if you say lying is wrong unless a serial murder comes asking where your wife is and you lie to him that's ok... I'd view this as moral relativism. Perhaps that's not the academic definition but that's how I defined it.

Moshka you're too funny.

I believe there is only one "moral" law and it has no exceptions.

Well don't leave us in the dark. What is it?

My one and only moral law. ;-)

Based on our very best understanding and awareness,

To support, sustain, strengthen, encourage, and align ourselves with the further unfolding story and creativity of the universe.

(That which is good further enhances the story; that which is bad thwarts, damages, harms the unfolding of the story).

:-)

As I stated, we have a 14 billion years history, we have a natural world filled with information giving us the knowledge we need to undestand the story in which we are a part. All we have to do is align ourselves with this most amazing unfolding.

The further unfolding story and creativity of the universe...Couldn't that be anything? Are you saying the most beautiful thing is the moral thing? Yet beauty is a matter of perspective. Do you mean diversity? Yet I know a lot of people who would disagree because frankly to increase diversity we need to get rid of a lot of excess homo sapiens.

(That which is good further enhances the story; that which is bad thwarts, damages, harms the unfolding of the story).

Who decides whether it makes the story better or worse? I mean, man's life and standard of living seems to have gotten much better in just the last 100 years, but that probably wasn't so good for other animals. I never saw evolution as good or evil, but merely selecting for certain traits.

Hi Ajax...

Nope... we have a long history and an amazing world to give us guidance. I'm not talking about people who claim to speak for God, or who claim God is speaking to them. I'm talking about a universe in which we all are a part.
Are you saying the most beautiful thing is the moral thing?

Nope... the universe is destructive and violent and not always beautiful.

Do you mean diversity? Yet I know a lot of people who would disagree because frankly to increase diversity we need to get rid of a lot of excess homo sapiens.

Obviously diversity is something the universe has brought forth and on which it thrives. Destroying homo sapiens is thwarting creativity is it not? Killing each other is clearly destroying what the universe has brought forth. :-)

Of course we all have different opinions and beliefs which in my opinion, is exactly what is needed to move forth. The universe does not require a world full of people who all believe, think, dress, act, behave the same. It CRAVES the creative efforts of everyone.

My very strong belief is that the universe and our world itself gives us a clear understanding of that which we need... it is the same for each of us and collectively we can expand our awareness to further (or align ourselves with) the story.
