Alabama? But that wasn't organized until 1888, and was named in honor of the Illinois city.
WK: "Joseph Smith asserted that the Book of Mormon peoples were the original inhabitants of the americas"
Will Schryver: "No, he didn’t." 3/19/08
Still waiting for Will to back this up...

Close, but no dancing banana!

Clue: Try using google search. That might help!

Bonus Clue: Joseph Smith visited the area in 1839.

(Let it not be said that I fail to bring trivial information to this board!)

007,

You're just not invested enough. You can't just take random guesses, you have to pony up the evidence. What do you think this is some sort of Mickey Mouse game I'm playing?

;-)

Clue: It is a coastal state.

I'm not guessing. Nauvoo appears as a town in Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and Alabama on yahoo maps.

My last educated guess is Maryland/New Jersey/Virginia area, when he visited President Martin Van Buren in Washington D.C. Oct 1839 about the suffering in Missouri.

Your last educated guess contains the correct answer. If you'd like to earn a dancing banana, please post the back story and a link.

Clue: The town was later renamed.

What one chooses to do with their dancing banana is a matter of personal preference and choice. We prefer that posters keep it to themselves, preferrably behind closed doors and out of the reach of children.
