Temple recommend questions

Post by _Gazelam »

1 Do you have faith in and a testimony of God the Eternal Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost?

2 Do you have a testimony of the Atonement of Christ and of His role as Savior and Redeemer?

3 Do you have a testimony of the restoration of the gospel in these the latter days?

4 Do you sustain the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the Prophet, Seer, and Revelator and as the only person on the earth who possesses and is authorized to exercise all priesthood keys? Do you sustain members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as prophets, seers, and revelators? Do you sustain the other General Authorities and local authorities of the Church?

5 Do you live the law of chastity?

6 Is there anything in your conduct relating to members of your family that is not in harmony with the teachings of the Church?

7 Do you support, affiliate with, or agree with any group or individual whose teachings or practices are contrary to or oppose those accepted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

8 Do you strive to keep the covenants you have made, to attend your sacrament and other meetings, and to keep your life in harmony with the laws and commandments of the gospel?

9 Are you honest in your dealings with your fellowmen?

10 Are you a full-tithe payer?

11 Do your keep the Word of Wisdom?

12 Do you have financial or other oblgations to a former spouse or children? If yes, are you current in meeting those obligations?

13 If you have previously received your temple endowment:

Do you keep the covenants that you made in the temple?
Do you wear the garment both night and day as instructed in the endowment and in accordance with the covenant you made in the temple?

14 Have there been any sins or misdeeds in your life that should have been resolved with priesthood authorities but have not been?

15 Do you consider yourself worthy to enter the Lord's house and participate in temple ordinances?

In regards to this, I would have to see the nature of the criticism in each individual critique.

Questions 3 and 4 are the ones I see that may support Plutarchs arguement. If the Spirit has testified to an individual that the church is true, then faith in the brethren goes along with this.

I have to say that when I mention to members that i participate on this board, I have gotten some sideways looks. Maybe they're trying to gauge where I stand or something, I don't know. I would have to say that to a certain extent I need this board, or one like it, because I find that it gives me cause to search the scripture, a focus you might say. My testimony was born on my mission, and under the guidance of a McConkie, so maybe I need to be actively involved in defending the faith to feel I'm standing on the proper ground.

Look over the Temple recommend questions, and gauge for yourself where you stand, then look at the last question.

Also, I personally feel that these questions are a safe gauge as to your entering the Celestial kingdom. After all, its the house of the Lord.

No.

I can take my objections to my bishop. That is a private setting.

So....why are you here? If the type of discussion that occurs here is so wrong in your eyes, aren't you being hypocritical in continuing to "add fuel to the fire", so to speak?

Edited to add...This question isn't exclusively for Plutarch.

No. I hope I have adequately answered your questions.

So, it's ok to come on here and call people names for not doing what you think they should do with their concerns. Very noble, Christlike, and intelligent.

Well, what if a person has a bishop who is extremely busy? I had a bishop who could only schedule 15 minute blocks of time (though most of his meetings ran over, which had you sitting there waiting for hours for an appointment that was scheduled). Is this normal? How do you air your concerns in 15 minutes?

What if your bishop is hostile to your questions?

And how do you feel that not answering questions, using that brilliant circular "legal" logic of yours, and name calling is tantamount to "adequately answering questions"?

Good points, GIMR! ;) I think we were separated at birth. LOL

These are all good questions, Plu. Care to comment?

Liz, so that's where those operation scars over my heart and on the top of my head come from! We were conjoined, methinks.

All Plu will do is call us cowards, hypocrites, ignorant, etc. I can't wait.

Actually, no, you haven't adequately answered my questions, but now I do know that you are an attorney because asking you questions you are obviously uncomfortable with has resulted in your feigning to an almost predictable "yes, no" answering pattern.

Explain to me how it is not hypocritical in gaining pleasure in what you obviously see as another LDS soul's demise?

You have claimed on other threads that you come here for entertainment. Making snide, judgemental remarks to other members who may be struggling with their faith seems to be a very sadistic way for a supposed former bishop to derive pleasure.

Can I get an Amen from the congregation?

Plutarch wrote:The question just is too vague to provide a response more than what I have provided.

I am happy to attempt answers to all questions posed here (I'll note that many of you refuse to get "roped" into my questions), but that one was too vague. "Certain aspects of the Church," means what? The proposed design of the remodel of a BYU building? The Adam-God teachings of Brigham Young? The answer would swing wildly based upon the issue at hand.

We do not refuse to get roped into your assinine questions. We refuse to commit to assinine presuppositions with endless "Nuh uh, it is too" piddlefests that go on and on until the heat death of the universe.
