I watched that trailer, I'd love to know what "hidden information" they discovered to pin it on Brigham. It sounds like he did give an order to the indians to take the cattle, since he believed it woudl be used to feed the U.S. army that was threatening to invade Utah.

Was I mistaken, or did it appear like they plan to show the Temple ceremony in the movie?

I can hear the Bible belt salivateing from here.

Wow, it looks like there is temple stuff in the trailer. There was a handshake behind a veil and someone being bathed behind a veil. LOL. It looks like the Temple Ceremony is making its big screen debut.

Yes, so much for "we don't throw our pearls before swine!" It really was only a matter of time. If LDS were unwilling to do it, then somebody else would be happy to.

Just out of curiosity, I wonder if the Church could sue them for copyright infringement if they do show the ceremony.

Wait till this is made general knowledge, the stink is going to be HUGE.

The wagon train was innocent, and the Men from Cedar city were completely wrong, even though the political atmosphere of the time may be partly to blame for their state of mind.

Actually, the evidence for "loud mouthed additions" is probably fabricated, originating from the Mormons' needs to create an excuse when the horrific event happened, and passed down generation to generation hence.

According to Will Bagley, there's no real evidence that any of the "loud-mouthed additions" actually happened.

However, I really appreciate your willingness to look at what we've written and recant what you've said. Truly.

Frankly, I don't see how that would be possible. (If the Church did not sue Decker and his pals over the stuff from The Godmakers, then how could they sue the September Dawn folks?) Moreover, this raises the whole issue of how and/or why keeping the temple ceremony secret has anything do to with its being sacred. Finally, *if* the Church can sue the MMM filmmakers, does this mean that the Masons can sue the Church?

Personally, I think the church will ignore the whole thing.

Could be. I will most certainly depend on how much media coverage the film receives. If there is a lot of coverage, I think we can safely expect some kind of spin-doctoring from the Church.

I wouldn't be surprised if the church sued for copyright.

But one must consider what such a lawsuit would have to entail. Property rights for something are now locked in perpetuity.

Essentially satan, in the form of the MPAA, Disney and other property rights oriented businesses in conjunction with lobbyists and lawyers (see Dark Servants of Cthulhu for references) .

They got together and passed a steaming turd into law called the DMCA, a.k.a. The Digital Millenium Copyright act.

Somebody call Cory Doctorow. We have a good story here possibly in the near future.

DMCA OH YAY!!!! A way for the entertainment industry to stifle culture. And coming to a Federal District court office near you....DMCA to protect the Mormon business interest...hmmm, Catch 22. If mormonCorp has to produce monetary records, its not going to work. "E V I D E N C E == Public viewable"

If Mormons sue for rights, they would probably have to prove ownership of the material. They would have to submit the...hey, Mormons would never submit something such as temple ceremonies to a federal District Court!?! Would they?

The wacky dress up power play that is the temple ceremony will hit mainstream forms of media. It will be mocked, riddiculed and (hopefully) lampooned. It will be a glorious day. Its just like opening up someones underwear drawer and showing everybody. Mormon dammage control will fail. The crack in the dam will form. And we will come closer to the great day will come in which I will do my single greatest contribution to the exmo community: Vegasbright doing a Jig on top of Joseph Smiths grave.

Could this be the Lynchpin in getting the General Public correctly informed concerning what Mormons do?
