Dr. Peterson Offers Up His Diagnosis of MDB

Exchange "critic" with "believer" and this statement would still be correct. Everyone has an agenda, it's why we do anything.

Indeed.

Bond, for example, has been composing agenda-driven conspiracy fantasies and posting them on "Dr." Shades's Obsessed-with-the-MAD-Board board. Pure groundless fiction, but deliciously paranoid. Just the thing for his couchmates in therapy with the "Doctor."

Boy, I sure would love to see him turn that bright light of psychoanalysis on himself! Later in the thread (which is about TBM interpretations of the "All About Mormons" episode of South Park), DCP admits to reading this board to the extent that he is able to zero in on specific posts of Bond's, despite his accompanying claim that he only reads "a few posts from time to time". Gee, sort of like how I read only a "few posts from time to time" at the fittingly named MADboard, such as when my "little birdy" tells me about particularly juicy threads? If this makes me "obsessed" in His Highness's eyes, does that mean he's "obsessed" too? Oh, wait, that's right---I'm a "brazen liar," so I can't be trusted. Right.

Anyone care to venture a guess as to how many hours the good Dr. spends on Mormon-related internet discussion boards on a typical day?

I know we've been through this before, but it seems to me like it would have to be a rather significant amount.

Maybe if he spent some of that time doing, . . . say, some actual work, he might be able to pad that rather unimpressive CV of his with some actual peer-reviewed publications.

But I suppose there's something to be said for spending one's time writing polemics to a group of like-minded sycophants who respond in kind with obligatory ego stroking as opposed to submitting one's original ideas to the harsh light of peer criticism.
God . . . "who mouths morals to other people and has none himself; who frowns upon crimes, yet commits them all; who created man without invitation, . . . and finally, with altogether divine obtuseness, invites this poor, abused slave to worship him ..."

Couchmates! I like that. Perhaps Wade could use it in his on-line therapy group.

There is no reason the good Doctor should not read this board, since it constantly touches upon items of interest to him. I wish he would post here.

Scratch, thanks once again for keeping us posted.

I asked him if he'd post here. He said:

If you're such a big reader of us why not come on over instead of the comments from far away.

I'm not a particularly "big" reader of Dr. Shades's Obsession Board. I look in on two or three threads from time to time.

I've even (twice) looked at the mendacious Mr. Scratch's Obsession Blog, where he manages (at psychologically worrisome length) to combine his unhealthy fascination with me and with this board with a remarkable capacity for misreading and a studiously petulant incomprehension.

I think Dr. Shades's Obsession Board is worth watching, but not because I secretly desire to participate there. No, I'm interested for quite different reasons. (Did I ever mention that I also enjoy Freud and Laing, and that I loved Oliver Sacks's The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat?)

And you're entirely welcome to VegasRefugee and GIMR and suchlike. I wish you much joy of them.

So no dice for Dr. Peterson posting here. For now......

GIMR is on Dr. Peterson's list? Wow, is he in for some schrapnel or what?

Frankly, I believe that he already *has* posted here, using the nom de guerre "Monitor." As to his claim that he's "interested for quite different reasons," coupled to his citation of Freud and Laing, well, I also enjoyed Lacan and Sader-Masoch! Woo hoo!

Let's face it: the real reason DCP checks in is because we talk about him. The reason we talk about him is because he is Apologist Numero Uno, and further, he makes some pretty embarrassing mistakes from time to time. The reason he likes to insult is is because, to paraphrase an old Mormon saying, "The sinner hates for his sins to be exposed." My favorite instance of him flying off the handle was when I reported his boasting about being an "agent" for the Strengthening the Members Committee. He immediately appeared on KG's board, huffing and puffing, accusing me of being "a brazen liar" (with no evidence), and etc. He was posting under the name of "Fritz," by the way.

Sadly for the Good Professor, the list grows larger each month, it seems. (For some reason he really hates VegasRefugee, too, but I've been unable to figure out what their history is.)

What's funny is that he talks about how he's not ALLOWED to post at RfM - so that's why he has to bash them on the MAD board.

What's his excuse for this place?

I believe it's the usual litany of excuses, backtracking, and made-up pap: there's cursing; he doesn't "like" us; there's no mod protection for him; etc., etc., etc. If an excuse can be made, he is going to make it. After all, he *is* an apologist. ; )

Yeah, but all of that happens at RfM. DP has never made an issue of it. The only issue he's made of RfM is how he's not allowed to post there.

Maybe he'll answer me at MAD. Who knows.
