Mr. D sighting (documented)

Post by _wenglund »

For those still interested, this may not be much, but I have just found someone I can document, who says he fits the description I give for Mr. D (though I didn't actually reference Mr. D, since that may have confused him).

His name is Don Bradley, and he made his acknowledgement HERE (there are two related posts from him on that page, but the more significant one was addressed specifically to me).

I hope this helps.

Thanks, -Wade Englund-

P.S. For whatever reason, I cannot get the link to work right. If you wish to view what was said, please go to the MA&D board, and click on page 3 of "The Grand Fundamental Principles Of Mormonism" thread.

I know who Don Bradley is. But who is Mr "D"?

See the OP on the thread HERE. It is is a name I gave to represent a group of former members in a hypothetical scenerio I created to make a specific point.

Later in that thread, and also in subsequent threads (see for example HERE), question were raised as to the very existance of such a person. I was asked to produced evidence, and I proferred some anecdotal examples. That didn't suffice. So, I am now producing documentable evidence.

Much to do about nothing, really.

Thanks, -Wade Englund-

The first track on the Rolling Stones' Goats Head Soup album is called Dancing With Mr. D. Is that who we're talking about? ;)

Your first link doesn't work for me.

Don certainly has mellowed over the years and taken a different approach to Mormonism. However, he was more antagonistic in his earlier years out of the church... which I believe is the point some of us have tried to make with you, wade.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Wade - I don't think you can classify Don as a 'Mr. D' - as Beastie pointed out.

I also think it's funny how he still thinks Joseph Smith was a fraud (deception was the word he used). Can your hypothetical Mr. D believe Joseph Smith was a fraud?

Nice try though.

Side note - I loved Hyrum Page's comment at the end of page 3. What a completely stereotypical Mormon thing to say. And you wonder why you can't find any Mr. D's out there...

Some members have asserted that it is all true because it is a Mr. D or something like that.

Precisely. People get over it. It isn't usually a vicious cycle of anger. And yes, Don has indeed mellowed. The thread in question had Don saying that he wasn't going to rehash the arguments about the church because all that would do was get people angry. Wade immediately stepped in and anointed him Mr. D. Strangely enough, I had said pretty much the same thing yesterday, that I wouldn't rehash the "evidence" against the church because I didn't want to start another pointless argument. Maybe that makes me "Mr. D." Come to think of it, I must be cured of the anger.

Yep---sorry, Wade, but you've failed again. Keep trying, and perhaps you will one day find one single instance of a Mr. D. Until then, I wish you luck.
