Visiting Utah, what do I need to know?

Post by _Jersey Girl »

Hello All,

Misery stated in another post that Utah is behind the times. I will have an opportunity to visit Utah this Spring (yes, the Ikea store in Draper, like that's your business). What do I need to know about visiting Utah? Do's / Don'ts?

We drive on the same side of the road as you do, just a little more lax. Elvis has been sighted a few times at the Iceberg Drive-In in Draper, Utah. It would not hurt to brush up on your Deseret alphabet. Set your watch to Mountain Time, 1956.

Go to the canyons and national parks, take lots of pictures, don't get a tattoo unless you talk to Sono.
Avoid temple square and men in white shirts and ties and name tags.
Everything is closed on Sundays except the malls that are owned by the church. Stay at the MArroit they show X-Rated films.

Go to church any Mormon church if you so desire. Go have fun and you will see if you choose to see that they are behind and men rule the state and women are merely there.

If you are in Provo go to BYU and try to find a coffee or a coke.

Go to a restaurant and order a drink and have everyone give you the evil eye, you will enjoy Utah Jersey Girl. You will fit right in cause you wear overalls and you don't tease your hair.

Let me see anymore advice you need about Utah.

If you want a lotto ticket you have to drive to Malad or Preston, Idaho.

If you visit the Temple you can go to the visitors center and watch a movie. The used book stores have great backlogs of out of print church books.

Theres lots of great places to hike as well.

If you need a time out from the mormies in the malls, either go to Sugarhouse in SLC or up to Park City for a break.
Also don't assume all resturants in the outlying areas sell even beer and wine, ask before seated.
