Misery is clueless.

Utah is not behind the times at all. You will find it SLC like any other large western city such as Denver, Boise, Phoenix, etc. You will not be able to order a liquor beverage in a restaurant other then a beer though and all liquor is sold in a state run liquor stores.

Visit downtown SLC, it is a lovely city. You ought to check out temple square if you are interested in Mormons. Go to Snowbird and ride the tram!!! Check out Park City as well.

Actually I think Jason is the clueless one.. I am pretty sure in most large resturants you can order a mixed drink.. Before the Olympics it was really screwy, you had to specify a liquor in your drink. So if you wanted a margarita you had to say “with tequila” … Oh and the beer is watered down to 3.2%.

I was just back there in 2005 ordered a mixed drink in Olive Garden, Italian Marguarita full alcohol but no bar to wait at. People left because there was no bar.
You can buy beer at the grocery stores but not hard liquor or wine you need to go to the liquor store for those.
You can't buy beer on Sundays however, why I do not know.

Went to St. George ordered a Bahama Mama at the Red Lobster and the waitres asked me if Iwanted alcohol in it...well yeah...got to Vegas and there was liquor everywhere.

Jason have you ever been to Utah...I am thinking no!!!!!!

The liquor laws are still screwy even now way after the Olympics....too many Mormons think alcohol is evil.....

Just for general references here....

I don't drink alcohol (not that I don't feeeeeeel like it somedays!)
I don't watch x-rated movies
I don't gamble (as in lotto tickets)

I do shop ;-) (IKEA I'm a comin'!)
I do eat food
I do love nature so would love to see the caverns and such

Can I tour the SLC Temple? (parts of it at least?)

I've been to church at the local Ward and Stake (been there done that)

I could easily fake my way through 1956 and am already on Mountain Time!

Sooooooo.....

Name some restaurants that are particular to the area that have good food!!

Also, there are a TON of scrapbooking and rubber stamp companies in Provo...does anyone know if they have outlets?

Yes, I know I have boring interests.

That's interesting, why do I sound like a perfect Mormon waiting to be born? Reasons?

I like just about anything. Any restaurants that are considered SLC traditions? Money isn't a big deal.

La Caille at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon in Sandy, has good French food although it is pricey by Utah standards. Likewise Log Haven is also good. We have a number of good Indian and Thai restaurants in Salt Lake Valley.
