Sure. Joseph smith was a compulsive liar and the company he kept furthered these lies in order to gain power, money and sexual favors.
Would you like more specifics?

Well if you are of the same mindset as Baurak Ale, I cannot help you.mentalgymnast wrote:hi Polygamy Porter. you said:If the Mormon church was not "true", would you want to know?
MG: yes I would. Would you be good enough to tell me how I might "know"?
Thanks in advance,
MG
Baurak Ale has told us, at least for him, that personal feelings, emotional epiphanies if you will, always Trump facts. Especially the facts that prove Smith was a fraud.

MG: personal feelings and emotional epiphanies are not to be trusted at all times as they can possibly be misleading. So again, can you tell me how I might know how the Mormon church isn't true? I would like to come to an understanding as to how I can know this. How do you "know"? Can I know in the same way?
Thanks,
MG

As I see it, TSCC converts people with FACTS. Pray about a few key historical supposed factual events that involve Smith.mentalgymnast wrote:Polygamy Porter wrote:Well if you are of the same mindset as Baurak Ale, I cannot help you.mentalgymnast wrote:hi Polygamy Porter. you said:If the Mormon church was not "true", would you want to know?

Once they have you accepting that Smith was a divine man who god favored and spoke to and through him, then you are expected to eat the entire nine course meal.
Some facts:
-Smith had A SINGLE vision where specific key events occurred and specific information was disseminated
-Smith dug some golden plates and "translated" them
-Smith restored key principles
-Smith was an honorable man lead by god
-Smith had revelations given only to him, never before seen in society as they were from god
-Smith translated some Egyptian funeral texts the same way he translated the plates
-Smith gave up his life for the cause
Examine the facts and you will have your answer, Smith was a con man.

I think the only way you can know the bona fides of the Church is through the Holy Ghost. I believe that if that supreme exalted personage reveals truth to a man that that would carry more weight and be more factual than any fact mortal man believes he can deduce by empirical reasoning or logic surely? The Holy Ghost is experienced individually and his truth can only be recieved on that basis.
Yes this is correct, I believe that if GOD himself communicates truth to a man, that fact carries more power and truth than any fact man believes he can deduct of himself.Baurak Ale has told us, at least for him, that personal feelings, emotional epiphanies if you will, always Trump facts. How does one know if it is God himself who is doing the communicating?
Also, what is a fact?
I detest my loose style and my libertine sentiments. I thank God, who has removed from my eyes the veil...

That is precisely the problem. The whole thing is circular. You're told that feelings are from God. You have feelings, and you assume they are from God.
What happens when the feelings and epiphany tell you things that are demonstrably not true? When you decide that facts don't matter, you are in deep trouble.
