For those of you that are providing links to information, I thank you for that, but beg you to change your ways.

Nothing is worse than having to scroll from side to side because someone is too lazy to put in their link properly.

It's really quite easy.

It makes it that much easier for those of us who browse from work.

And this is how that exact same example will look when finished.

Or you can just use the site " tinyurl" and truncate everything. I've used it for years and it works great.

in my opinion, you should use a better browser. IE7 will highlight links automagically, even when people forget to do the underline trick. Firefox probably does the same, but I will have to check at home.

A. There is nothing wrong with my browser. I've used Firefox and/or Opera for the last 5 years with no problems. As an IT engineer, I know all the tweaks and tips and tricks to make my browsing easy.

B. All web browsers (for PCs at least) will auto-highlight a link. I have yet to encounter one that won't (unless I count that really s*** port of Safari from a few years ago).

I always add an underline and a color to differentiate between normal text, normal underlined text and links.

My normal link posts would look like

This

It's just frustrating, because I'm stuck at work on a POS at max rez and I have to scroll for 4.5 seconds in order to see the text in every post on that page because someone is too lazy to type in an extra few characters.

It's called Netiquette.

Bryan,

Speaking for those of us who are not completely computer illiterate but are, shall we say, "building skill", I am not lazy, I didn't know HOW to make the link do that on this board.

Thanks for the lesson. I am teachable.

I do it a bit differently than Bryan, and i think this way's easier:

Under the old way, you'd see this:

http://www.insertwwwhere.com

But if you use this method:

[ url=http://www.insertwwwhere.com]LINK[ /url]

you'll see this:

LINK

(remove the spaces before the first 'url' and before the slash in the last url)
WK: "Joseph Smith asserted that the Book of Mormon peoples were the original inhabitants of the americas"
Will Schryver: "No, he didn’t." 3/19/08
Still waiting for Will to back this up...

Netiquette? I seriously never heard of the underline rule. Perhaps we can get Keene to change the CSS for this site, or at least change the behavior of links to automatically underline them? Personally I think that would be a better solution than manking everyone remember to underline their links.

In any case, I will try to remember to underline because you requested it. Perhaps it's netiquette in that sense.
