When the DJ speaks the thinking has been done.
The evidence doesn't agree with the NHM evidence. Strong possibility that Imus instead said "nappy headed montanans" or "no hints monty" supported by the Book of Abraham fascimiles and Reformed Egyptian translation errors.

If I may offer my assistance, and I hope this will be taken in the spirit given.
Rather than dwell on what you perceive to be an offense, perhaps your time will be better spent in pondering why you persisted in your erroneous interpretation of said event. Corrective action in regards to your cognitive distortions which led you to make this erroneous interpretation will help you understand that you alone are responsible for your reactions. Focusing on what you believe to be Imus' wrongdoing is counterproductive.
In fact, if such cognitive distortions continue, it may be a warning sign of bigotry.

We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

That helps. Did you hope it would?

Why of course I hoped it would, as long as you realize that no rational fault can be laid at the feet of Mr. Imus, and that, instead, your challenge is to correct the cognitive distortions that led you to believe otherwise.
It is my hope that this will allow you to stop the cycle of victimization.

The nappy headed ho doctrine is an old teaching that has been changed because Imus received a revelation. It wasn't wrong to start with. The Lord reveals things in his own time, for his own purpose and it's not our place to question it. You can bring up all the "evidence" you like that Imus is a racist and it wouldn't matter at all to me. I have a testimony of Imus and that's what matters.
