What if Jesus wasn't the Christ?
What if it's all a crock, put forth by men who really really wanted it to be true, so they manipulated the story after Jesus was crucified?
What does that say about Father?
I know what it says about Joseph Smith, and I'm not concerned about that right now... but what does that say about Father? Does the idea that the Jesus movement was a lie that became a myth have any impact on Father, in the practical sense? Would God still be God?

Father Time is the only father I recognize (my own father has passed on.)
in my opinion, it is a crock (but a very powerful crock). Certainly, it is possible there is a God. If there is a God, I see no evidence that He manifests himself through the "Jesus Movement" or the "Joseph Movement". If God does exist and man can communicate with Him, neither Jesus nor Joseph can get in the way of that.
Christianity and Mormonism seem like an awfully crude way for God to deal with man. If He does exist, He is independent of Jesus.

Well then a couple billion people believe a lie in this case.
What does that say about God? I am not sure. If you believe Jesus is the Christ and God let's Islam go to about a billlion that what does that say about God? What does the existence of any untrue religion say about God?

What if those couple of billion people believe a lie, Jason? What if it's all a myth built on a lie created and perpetuated by men with a specific agenda? Do numbers really matter? Does a lie become truth, just because a billion people believe it?

My point was not that because billions believe it, it is true. It was the a billion believe a lie, if it is a lie.
in my opinion if Jesus was not what the Bible claims it is the BIGGEST hoax on all man kinds history. Huge issues as a result.

You speak of it as if there IS a God, somewhere out there. THis is fantasy
And crawling on the planet's face
Some insects called the human race
Lost in time
And lost in space...and meaning

It would have been relatively easy to pull off. A handful of highly intelligent men with an agreed upon or at least a similiar agenda, a whisper here and there, gullibility and an intense desire to believe that there is some justice in the world... and voila! The birth of Christianity.
