Is there anything in your eyes not "potentially embarrassing to the Church"?

Why don't you start a thread titled "What I like about the Church". The content would be something like this:

Hi, Ray. If I compliment you, will you come back over to this side, like you have done with DCP and his flattering emails to you?

Anyways, I will go ahead and fill in the blanks for you. There are a number of things about which Mormons ought to be very proud (and things which I view as being largely good):

---The meshing of doctrine with positive American ideals
---the settlement of the West
---generally good-natured principles and attitudes towards one's fellow human beings
---ambition
---the tendency towards book- and history-keeping (Prof. Hamblin's sig lines notwithstanding).
---the potential for so much good.
[/quote]

I just wish the Church would live up to its potential in a better way. I know this probably seems like "ark steadying," but I don't really care. I care about seeing the Church realize its true potential.

The fundamental difference between you and DCP is that he's a man of integrity. So no, a compliment won't be enough. You'd need a total character overhaul.

Sorry to disappoint you.

I've used a lot of names on these boards over the years, but does that make me a sockpuppet? They kept accusing me of being in cahoots with someone, which was pretty nuts, I'm just a little old middle-aged white woman, and what you see is what you get. What did I do to get banished forever (and can't even look at that board anymore)? Well, nothing except being right all the time!! Anyway, it's nice to be remembered.

Aha! Another piece of the puzzle falls into place! I'm am fairly certain that the person they thought you were in "cahoots" with was Out of My Misery, a.k.a. "Cowpie's Cheerleader."

Oh, for crying outside. I don't get it. What could we have accomplished by being in cohoots, and what skin would it have been off their nose if we had been? I just don't understand the workings of the persecuted mind, I guess. All I know is, whatever the hell a sockpuppet is, I ain't one.

A "man of integrity" who engages in rank gossip, manipulation of academic review, namecalling, false accusations, etc., etc. Tell me, Ray: you said you'd been in contact with him. What did he say to you in order to "lure you back"? I know for a fact that you used to view him with utter contempt. What changed?

So no, a compliment won't be enough. You'd need a total character overhaul.

You've said elsewhere that you do not eve know what my "character" is.....

That settelement of the West one surprises me. I thought you would see that as bad since it required exterminating the Indians, or at the very least destroying their lifestyle and culture and replacing it with European way of life.

I don't see how any of these things are good if the core doctrines of God, an afterlife with a judgment, and Christ's resurrection are not true. If these things aren't true than it's just an evil enterprise manipulating people for all the wrong reasons.

Which doctrines do you agree with and which do you disagree with?
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Really? I had no idea. That's hilarious.

Do you think they'd change me to Purgatory if they knew I gave Shades almost all those names? Oops...guess I let the cat out of the bag.

No, I don't. You really, REALLY have to piss them off, I think. You are going to need to go head to head w/ DCP on some issue which is potentially very embarrassing for the Church. It is sort of like Yoda's admonishment to Luke that he must "confront Vader" before he can finally call himself a Jedi.

I'm hurt. I confronted Palpatine and I'm not in Purgatory...just among the lowly banned. LOL

I know I'll regret asking this, but I wonder what on earth I did to earn a spot in purgatory. I asked them to ban that nick, and one of the mods (I think it was Jan) told me I'd be welcome to come back if I wanted to. Of course, that was before Not Quite Me and all that. But then I don't think NQM is in purgatory.

It's really strange. I suppose they have their reasons, but I can't think of what they might be.

If it makes you feel any better, I'll always think of you as Purgatory material. ;)
