One more thing. I don't believe it was the church, the gospel, the leaders, who did this. It was those men who made choices on the spot.
Listening to how the LDS were persecuted for how many years before this, having things like Haun's mill in recent memory and Boggs extermination order put forth, (not knowing how it would feel to be a modern day Jew in Germany) what kind of state of mind were they in?

Kind of goes along with what someone said in the PBS show, about how the Mormons sort of enjoy the persecution - makes them feel special. Sorry, I can't remember the exact quote, but it was something along those lines.

Yes...it goes along with identifying themselves as a "peculiar people".
It was very interesting presentation. However, I believe it will be the next step towards a holicost. We have had it prophesied that we would be going back to Missouri under the same conditions as we left. There is probably going to be a war with the Mormon's again.
