Hunger Strike (Day 1)
I've decided to start a hunger strike in protest of Daniel Peterson's malicious impugning of my character. In case you missed it, Dr. Peterson (apparently confusing me with his malevolent stalker, Mister Scratch), said that I "claimed" that someone on the FAIR/MAD board "feels positively about the Mountain Meadows Massacre."
He went on to question my integrity: "Unlikely as it is, my stalker could, for once, actually be telling the truth. I mean, it's not totally inconceivable . . . "
What I had said was simply this: "I recall someone on FAIR/MAD speaking quite positively about the MMM. Can't remember what the point was, but I thought it was appalling." That statement turned out to be true (I mean, it's not totally inconceivable, after all), as a statement from notoriously over the top DiggerDan was unearthed.
So, does Dr. Peterson have the inner strength to apologize to me, even privately? So far, nothing doing.
I hereby am beginning a hunger strike: from this time forward, I will not eat a Krispy Kreme--nay, a donut whatsoever--until such time that Dr. Peterson asks my forgiveness for such shabby treatment and character assassination.
I'm dead serious.

I'm so impressed! The willpower you will need to possess! The humanity!

Well, at least you won't be seriously dead. No one ever died yet from lack of donuts. And not that it matters all that much in the grand scheme of things, but I think you've eaten your last donut for quite a while.

I hope you're wrong. The one time he asked for an apology from me, I gave it immediately. I hope he does the right thing.

You're a brave soul, Runtu. If you really wanted to impress someone you'd give up those giant burritos you love so much.
I do think you deserve an apology so I'm considering joining you in your hunger strike. I think I'll give up mayonnaise. ;)

If you ever get to Houston, we'll have to eat at Freebirds. Deal?
I'm not doing this to impress anyone. Just thought a gentle and mildly humorous nudging might prompt the good Doctor to do the right thing.

No, he doesn't like them, either. Not sure how that rumor got started. And you're right: those donuts suck. They are OK when they're hot out of the oven, but otherwise, yuck.
