Argh, just got home after a long day, so I'm late getting in on this thread.
Also when I came home firemen were on our roof "assessing damage." So I guess our roof really did catch on fire during Saturday night's conflagration. If I haven't told you yet, we had a scary Saturday night as the building next door burned and we stood around in the street in our nightclothes wondering if everything we owned was going to burn up, too. The one thing I did grab and take with me was our cat, Blixa, from whom I take my screen name.
Blixa is named after Blixa Bargeld of Einstürzende Neubauten and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds fame---guitarist extraordinare and one of my personal style gods.
I've mostly been using screen shots of my Second Life avatar as my avatar here. A couple of recent ones are from my in-world visit to LDS Island (Adam-ondi-Ahman) in SL. Here I'm visiting with a virtual prophet. Though by the time you read this I might have swapped it out for another image.

I know where you got your avatar, Moksha, but I'll never tell. I'll admit that I thought about putting another version up as my avatar, though, just to mess with you. ;o) But that wouldn't be nice.
skippy the dead comes from my attempts some years ago to get a pet rat. I brought home my first rat, and named it Skippy. Alas, it died after just a few days (it apparently came home from the pet store with a rather fatal disease). So I got another rat. I really wanted to use the name Skippy, so to distinguish between the new rat and the recently deceased rat, I called the new one Skippy the Live, which led to referring to the old one as, well, Skippy the Dead. Unfortunately, Skippy the Live succumbed to the same disease (I should have had second thoughts at accepting an "exchange" from the same pet store, I suppose).
At any rate, skippy the dead is in honor of my deceased rat(s).
The avatar is an homage to the SF Giants, for whom I live and breathe. It is Lou Seal, the wacky mascot for the team (because Barry Bonds' head would be way too freakin' big to fit in an avatar).
I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe / But at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Nick: in real life initials and surname.
Avatar: Well, clearly, it's a Cobra soldier, so you can bet he's up to no good (e.g., making it rain at the beach). But, his villainy is perhaps palatable because, after all, he's just a LEGO dude. It's sort of cute, in a LEGO-ish sort of way. That's the intention, anyway.
Best.

He's not merely a soldier. He's Cobra Commander himself. That was the full-faced helmet he wore back before the days when he wore a blue hood.
WHY ON EARTH DO I KNOW THESE THINGS??? :-(

That's "suspicion" for people who don't know how to read my mind...come on people get with the program and learn to read my mind so I don't have to type out messages to get my point across. Shheesss.
