Sorta funny MAD thread

Post by _Blixa »

I admit I'm a bit loopy from just finishing grading the last batch of papers this semester, but I found the MAD thread, "Membership in Jeopardy" pretty funny. First, the worry about supporting apostates, then the (insulting) misidentification.

Care to summarize it for us?
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

Thread title: Membership in Jeopardy
Am I supporting an apostate?

First guy: I'm worried that I'm supporting an apostate by enjoying Tal Bachman's music. But I'm sitting here listening to Train and I like it!

2nd guy: Well if he made music that was anti-mormon then I wouldn't buy it. But if its regular music, its Ok!

First guy: Whew.

3rd guy: Tal Bachman isn't in Train.

1st guy: Yes he is. He's the lead singer.

1st guy: Well maybe not anymore I haven't kept up with them, but he was. At one time.

3rd guy: wikipedia entry on Train.

1st: Oh, I was wrong. I work late hours.

-----------

Like I said, I'm loopy from the end of the semester. I just loved the worry + misidentification + beligerent misidentification ending in sheepish back-down.

Also, Train? Tal Bachman?

LOL

If this isn't a testimony that the church imposes ridiculously tight mental control over its members, then I don't know what is. A member actually afraid he was supporting an apostate by enjoying his song?

Unbelievable. And actually, pretty sad.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

Jeez....just read that thread....what a waste of time.

Guy1: I like the music but I'm not sure if its alright to listen to the music because Uncle Freddy said his daddy said that the Prophet said....

Bond: Dude...shut up.

Guy1: But I'm not sure if it's alright to listen to this music....and I really really like this music and it's fun to dance too but I'm not sure if the Prophet thinks it's alright...

Bond: Dude....you're 45 years old!

Guy1: But I think I should ask the bishop to ask the Stake President to ask the missionaries because they came straight from the MTC and they're really in touch with God and the Holy Ghost right now...

Bond: Dude...why don't you ask God yourself?

Guy1: Well I don't know if I am praying the right way, and what if the message I get tells me not to listen to the music cause I really really like to listen to the music...

Bond: Then just listen to the music!

Guy1: But what if Satan grabs ahold of me through the music if it's played backwards....I better go ask the Bishop to ask the Stake....

Oh lordy...the thread is still on life support:

4th guy just entering discussion when its over: "As far as I was aware...Tal Bachman snr. is part of Bachman Turner Overdrive. But I thought it was his son Tal "She's So High" Bachman Jnr. that was the evangelical Anti."

And I'm not paraphrasing now. That's a quote from some one who'se correcting the Tal/Train mistake with an even more convoluted conglomeration of misunderstanding.

I'd love to hear the first guy do an analysis of Led Zepplins "Stairway to Heaven" and follow it up with a doctrinal commentary on Mettalica's "Creeping Death"

Scary, but you know there are people out there who think every little thing has to be run by the local shaman (and I'm not talking about Ned Flanders and Rev. Lovejoy).
