The Hunger Strike Continues (an update)

Post by _Runtu »

I posted those hunger strike things as a sort of joke, but I really was hoping I would get a response from Dr. Peterson acknowledging that he had, however inadvertently, at least hinted that I'm a habitual liar and correcting that statement. No such luck.

A while back he sent me an email objecting to something I said about him, and I apologized. In the same spirit, I sent a friendly email more than a week ago explaining why I thought he should correct his statement regarding me and apologize for it.

I'm not demanding an apology, but I was hoping he would at least reply. No response so far. I like Dr. Peterson and am a little disappointed, but it's not a big deal.

We'll even invite DCP if he apologizes!

Dude... You don't seem to know DCP at all. If he makes a claim at any point in his life, that's the end of the story for him. He does not change his mind. He defends his ridiculously stupid comments henceforth and forever more.

If he claimed the Washington Monument didn't exist, you could drop him on its tip and impale his torso, and when he felt the pain, he'd claim it was just his trick back acting up. Don't you know? In DCP's world, he's never wrong.

To me, that's the definition of dumbass.

Hi Some Schmo,

As I look at the sharp contrast between your stated perception of DCP and Runtu's, I am wondering if what you are actually defining is "projection"?

The hostility and disdain you have towards DCP, as contrasted with Runtu's kindly view of him, seems a bit puzzling to me given that this thread is about something that occured between Runtu and DCP, and has nothing to do with you. Have you considered introspecting to see why you are so bent out of shape for something that happened to Runtu, when he considers it "no big deal"? Have you thought to explore inwardly why you let DCP have so much control over your disposition?

Just trying to help.

Thanks, -Wade Englund-

Some Schmo and DCP have a history of their own from FAIR. Some Schmo's perceptions of Dr. Peterson involve his own dealings with him rather than an observation of the interaction between Runtu and DCP.

Likewise, Wade, I wonder if your reaction to Schmo's post is "projecting". You claim, quite self-righteously, I might add, that you're interested in "focusing on the positive and uplifting," but here you show your true colors. Whereas I found Schmo's remarks to be funny and lighthearted, you see it as "hostile" and "full of disdain." Perhaps you haven't been very honest about your little project, eh?

C'mon, Wade. Messageboards are meant for discussion. Schmo, like many of us here, has had run-ins with the Good Professor, and thus knows a thing or two about him. I would like to weigh in here too, and add that I have never seen DCP honestly and sincerely apologize for anything---sort of like the institutional LDS Church itself.

Have you considered introspecting to see why you are so bent out of shape for something that happened to Runtu, when he considers it "no big deal"? Have you thought to explore inwardly why you let DCP have so much control over your disposition?

Have you though to explore inwardly why your "most precious and dear" Church has so much control over your life?

Just trying to help.

Thanks, -Wade Englund-

Well, I've said this before and I'll say it again here: I don't know DCP. When I make comments about him, I'm actually referring to his online persona, not to the man himself. For all I know, what he presents is a fictional caricature of who he really is (I sort of suspect this... or maybe I hope that it's true, for the benefit of all mankind).

But the real point I'd like to make here is that I'm not bent out of shape about what DCP may or may not have done to Runtu. I actually have no idea what that was. My comments are the result of my direct interaction with DCP's online persona back when I participated at FAIR. And I wouldn't even characterize my own thoughts on him as feeling "bent out of shape." I was regularly entertained by our interactions. I like to make fun of him these days because it's funny to me, and occasionally, it's funny to others. The best comedy is that which contains a grain of truth and to which people can relate.

I don't get upset about what people say in an online forum. That's just crazy. I have no idea where those thoughts are coming from or the motivation behind them, so to let it "have control over my disposition" would be silly and neurotic.

Thanks for asking, though.

LOL!

Hehe... I wish I'd thought of that. Nice, Scratch.

So what about that, Wade? Why are you letting me have so much control over your disposition?

I'm with you. I don't take any of this particularly seriously, either (hence the lighthearted "hunger strike." Of course, at this rate I may never eat another donut as long as I live. :-)

Wait! I thought the hunger strike was officially over!

I've got seven dozen boxes of donuts, Starbucks coffee and the entire MormonDiscussions board coming over to your house to party! ;)
