They must have left that out of the animated cartoon I watched as a kid.
"Surely he knows that DCP, The Nehor, Lamanite, and other key apologists..." -Scratch clarifying my status in apologetics

Interesting the difference in the way apologists and critics think. Over on the MAD board, these verses are faith promoting and help prove the Book of Mormon true. I see them as evidence against it's truthfulness.
"We of this Church do not rely on any man-made statement concerning the nature of Deity. Our knowledge comes directly from the personal experience of Joseph Smith." - Gordon B. Hinckley

Yeah, I don't know how you CAN'T see some guy (Joseph Smith) rambling on and on, screwing up here and there, correcting himself - but not wanting his scribe to know that he 'screwed up'.
baffling.
WK: "Joseph Smith asserted that the Book of Mormon peoples were the original inhabitants of the americas"
Will Schryver: "No, he didn’t." 3/19/08

In which languages would those tangents only take one or two characters, The Nehor?
Back to the topic, here's a classic:
Ether 2:17:
And they were built after a manner that they were exceedingly tight, even that they would hold water like unto a dish; and the bottom thereof was tight like unto a dish; and the sides thereof were tight like unto a dish; and the ends thereof were peaked; and the top thereof was tight like unto a dish; and the length thereof was the length of a tree; and the door thereof, when it was shut, was tight like unto a dish.
When Oliver Cowdery wrote that down, he probably thought Joseph was feeling tight like unto a dish.
And now, for something EXTREMELY bizarre: The "tight like unto a dish" guy
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

GBH said that during conference last month. He criticized Christians for the Nicean Creed, and said he doesn't understand it. Then he expressed his gratitude that LDS don't have to rely on man-made statements about deity because their knowledge comes from Joseph Smith. It was classic. It's on lots of Christian blogs.

Yeah, I remember hearing that. Absolutely brilliant. Way to go, Gordon!

Here's another one of my favorites.
I'm trying to picture a guy engraving all this on a gold plate when he could just as easily abridge it to say "And thus did fifty and nine years pass away." Mormon was supposedly an abridger, right?
4 Nephi 1:6
And thus did the thirty and eighth year pass away, and also the thirty and ninth, and forty and first, and the forty and second, yea, even until forty and nine years had passed away, and also the fifty and first, and the fifty and second; yea, and even until fifty and nine years had passed away.
