Homosexuality is a sickness and a perversion, plain and simple. You can wrap it in a "fabulous" bow and pretty paper, but at its core its a sick perversion.
Mark my words, withen the next ten years people will be trying to justify beastiality the same way they are homosexuality. Its already creeping in on the fringes. And at the core its the same delusion.
What makes you think "oh they are so persecuted" is anyone here's response to homosexuality (which covers both men and women, by the way)?
And I'm not sure what "
the homosexual concept" is, either. There are many ways of making sense of homosexuality, some of which contradict each other, but none of which reduce it solely to a matter of anal sex because that activity is part of both hetero and homo sexualities. FYI, its probably a lot less a part of gay male relationships than you think too. The biggest fans of it that I know are hetero men.
In general, my opinions and principles come from my experiences, observations and reading and thinking. This is true of what I think about homosexuality as well. Most of my friends are gay men. I spend a lot of time in gay bars (and to a lesser extent in lesbian joints) and have all of my life. I doubt I would have made it out of SLC alive if I hadn't found The Sun. That's were I learned that not all guy's were jerkfaces and that there was more than one way of being "a man." Or maybe a better way of putting it is that I learned that "man" and "woman" were historically variable categories and not anyone's narrow destiny.
That's not to say that "persecution" isn't something I take lightly either. One of my best friends has an enormous scar on the back of his head from getting a knife in his skull. His is only the worst example of the many instances I know first hand about gaybashing.
Why do I say first hand? Well back in the 1980's when I was a punk in grad school, wearing my hair short and spiked earned me many "fag" cat calls on campus (and I was always wearing a dress or a skirt, so I'm guessing frat boys are the ones with the real "gender confusion"), and once an actual bashing. The latter occured at a Ramones concert where a local frat was doing "crowd control." This consisted of their beating on anyone whose looks they didn't like, such as my boyfriend and I. Both of us were fag-baited and I got hit, punched and kicked just as much as Roger did. God knows what all the many roots of homophobia are, but surely part of it is a general fear of the different and a fear of gender nonconformism.
So I'm afraid, Gaz, I too am a sick pervert. I love gay men and gay women and while my sexual encounters have always been with men (so far at least), I've committed what you would consider "sick" perversions with all manner of perverts.
