Summer 2007 Movie Thread (SPOILERS Warning SPOILERS)

Post by _Bond...James Bond »

Thread for the biggest movie summer of my life (hopefully)

Saw Spiderman 3 about a week ago....here are my impressions:

1) one villian too many (and the three they chose don't equal one Doc Oc).
2) Kristen Dunst sucks, and spent the whole movie doing a wet blanket Adrian from the Rocky series impression....stop bitching if you can't sing sweety....you're not that good of an actress.
3) At least they didn't try to tack an extra 20 minutes worth of wedding to the end....now they have stupid romantic plot for the next movie....jeez can't they put MJ in a coma for half the movie so we're left with Spidey action? IS that too much to ask?
4) The special effects were still worth the price of admission....at what point due they tell the actors "just stay home...we'll let the computer guys take care of it".

Next up:
Shrek and Pirates!!!!

LOL!

I have to laugh because your assessment is the same assessment my 3 year old would give of the film if he could articulate it.

I took him to see it and he loved the action scenes but was bored when anyone was just talking.

I agree that the villians were a little disjointed. They should have had two instead of three. It would have been nice if they had had a female villian in this one. That way, Spiderman would have had a different kind of challenge and MJ would have really had something to cry about.

I didn't like the fact that they killed off Harry at the end. It would have gone against Marvel comics, but who cares? I would have liked to have seen the Green Goblin and Spidey join forces going forward, and continue to be best friends. And they could have introduced a new love interest for Harry in the next one.

OK....Yes...I like happy endings. Sue me.

Yeah me and your three year old....of one mind LOL

It's not the talking parts are boring....its the fact that they have little chemistry for people who are supposed to be best friends/in love (and could they have thrown in a dirty sex scene....come on, use KD's moneymakers effectively). Personally I think they should lock Tobey and Kristen in a cabin somewhere for a couple of weeks in the off chance they develop some type of chemistry. (Aren't they saying that neither may come back for Spiderman 4?)

Yeah they go and create an awesome possibility (using Harry as a slingshot/floating surface for Spidey) and then they go and kill Mr. Slingshot....not to mention that flying snowboard kicked ass.

PS: Did anyone think Spidey's descent via the Venom suit made it seem like he was turning into a cross between an Emo person/Johnny Cash/and Mike Tyson?

Waving my geek flag high here.

Spiderman does have a semi-villian/love interest in a character called the Black Cat.

Only problem is that she thinks Peter Parker is a nerd and only likes Spiderman. Shes a vilian in that shes been known to work for the Crime boss the Kingpin.

Yeh, that whole romance happened way back in like '85. From that picture I think she went up a cup size every five years.

That Rambo trailer was absolutely hilarious. I couldn't believe the level of gratuitous gore. As for Transformers, I used to love the toys when I was a kid, but anything Michael Bay touches turns to poop...I'll avoid it.

Michael Bay is a total hack. But then so many are...

The only movie I was getting really excited about this summer is the Coen brothers adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's No Country For Old Men. Then it got pushed back to November. :(
