question for Bond...James Bond

Post by _The Dude »

Bond...James Bond

Just what is the deal with your avatar about diamonds? It doesn't have anything to do with 007 as far as I can tell. What am I missing? Is there a double entendre, perhaps?

I've been tempted to go with an un-dude avatar, just for fun. I don't think I ever will, but here's one that makes me giggle. Anyone ever see the episode of Arrested Development where Tobias gets business cards for his new career as an Analyst/Therapist?

Your post reminds me of a favorite comic strip I read growing up -- Lil' Abner. Seems that there was a national hunt for the most innocent married man alive. The surveyors enlisted a hag from the swamp who could whisper the most vile and disgusting stories imaginable, and the surveyors measured the depth of the blush elicited from the recipient of the whispered tale.

They came to Lil' Abner, and the hag whispered into his ear. They all knew Lil' Abner to be quite the guileless person, but they were amazed to see that he did not blush one iota at the story. Confused, they asked him why he didn't blush. He responded by saying that he did not understand the hag's story.

It loses something in the re-telling.

Kind of like me referencing an episode from a TV show you've never seen. It loses something.

You've obviously never seen the Bond film Diamonds are Forever ;)

But seriously I'm just immature and laugh at silly things like that....I'm giggling right now as a matter of fact (there's another one that is just a tad more suggestive, but I don't think Shades would appreciate it)

Hey, if being vulgar and woman-demeaning floats your boat, well, you just make the case for anyone who hates this forum.

I've got all the AD episodes on DVD, and I keep meaning to watch them. I have a friend who just loved it, and burnt me the episodes on DVD.

Still waiting for Will to back this up...

crock,

If the female posters on this board have not protested Bond's avatar, I think it safe to say that no female views it as either "vulgar" or "demeaning". In other words, lighten up and get a sense of humor.

When you do get around to it, be sure and watch three or four of them in a row. It takes a good dose of AD to get the rhythm of the humor. It ain't Seinfeld -- and that's probably why it only lasted 2 and 1/2 seasons.
