Hey, if being vulgar and woman-demeaning floats your boat, well, you just make the case for anyone who hates this forum.

Actually I picked it to irritate you asshole.

No irritation at all. I just note the vulgarity of things sometimes, like the fellow who posts as Captain Jack.

There's a fellow on my street who has all the toys; the $500,000 motor home, the boat, the $2 million home, etc. Parked out front is a Humvee with a set of big fake gonads hanging from the trailer hitch. It doesn't bug me, and I suppose I get a chuckle out of it, but it seems to me that vulgarity as a way of life is just something not very admirable. I mean, even those politicians who are vulgar privately try and hide their vulgarity.

And so it is here. There are some posters who are just vulgar -- vulgar in the broader sense in that they lack class and tend to wallow in the mean and the filthy. I very much doubt that the vulgar will ever come to appreciate the warmth and fulfillment of culture and literature, or that they will read things for the deeper meaning. Just wondering out loud.

I've been tempted to go with an un-dude avatar, just for fun. I don't think I ever will, but here's one that makes me giggle. Anyone ever see the episode of Arrested Development where Tobias gets business cards for his new career as an Analyst/Therapist?

I mentioned this episode to my daughter and she burst out laughing--Arrested Development was priceless!

I can watch it anytime--got the whole(three measily little seasons) set on my last birthday. (I think it's time to watch it again--kind of a celebrate summer event!)

I dunno. I think Shakespear's puns are so mainstreamed now, but you are right; they were as guilty of vulgarity at times as was Mozart. But I still think that polite society where it counts, and where it has influence, still treats vulgarity as shameful.

I live in Los Angeles and represent motion picture studios, directors, athletes, actors at times. Despite their lifestyle and what they produce, deep down inside they dislike vulgarity. There was recently a widely-reported incident (art imitates life -- Boogie Nights) near my home in which a couple had James Bond's type of sex in public at a party hosted by a well-known producer with hundreds in attendance. The male in the couple was a well-known producer and very influential. It took a lot of guts for the host of the party to kick the couple off the premises.

So, argue all you want that vulgarity is acceptable and something to admire. It ain't, and I don't admire Mr. Bond. If you or your friend Mr. Bond think they can influence on-the-fence Mormon or Evangelical readers with your brand of shameful vulgarity, then by all means proceed. I am not offended; I comment upon the weakness of your argument for all to see.
