Hugh Nibley was a fool, come watch
Watch him attempt to excuse away the lack of evidence for horses in the Book of Mormon via his trademark obfuscation.

Anyone that follows this fool's work is a grade A kook.

I am just imagining what would happen to this foolish old fraud if he turned up in a normal university and gave a nonsensical seminar like that. Did he ever venture outside BYU and talk this way, I wonder? Perhaps he kept such choice gems for the MTC.
I never dreamed that he could be so frankly bad.

Wow, if that isn't Mormon apologetics in a nut shell! Avoid answering the direct question. Cite as many parallels as you can to assure your faithful subjects that a possibility--no matter how slim--exists and that possibilty is enough to warrant belief in the unbelievable. I used to read Nibley when I was an active, believing Mormon. I wondered why I couldn't quite get the point of his incessant ramblings. Now I understand.

And I'm sure you're well versed in a dozen foreign languages, including coptic. Your criticisms of Nibley are actually a compliment.

That is Newspaper Rock.Gazelam wrote:
How old is this American petroglyph ?
My family visited that many times.
Drawings have been added upon drawings through the past 2,000 years; by Fremont, Anasazi, Navajo, and Anglo passers-by.
Since there is no Hebrew or "reformed Egyptian" found on it, I'd say the Nephites and Lamanites did not vandalize this rock.

that's a stretch Gaz.Gazelam wrote:So did the anglos draw in the horses?
Don't you think that the mo'pologists would have already jacked off all over this rock in a well publicized circle-jerk group mo'gasm if these horse images did anything for the historicity of the Book of Mormon?
The horse images were drawn well after the Spanish horses made their way up to this area.
