Uplifting music

Post by _Gazelam »

A thread was started in the Off-topic forum regarding favorite secular music, so I thought it might be nice to start a thread to share good spiritual music. Heres a nice one to start things off:

This one made me cry the first time I heard it. I don't know that the video captures it as well as you can in your head. Maybe close your eyes and listen instead.

Those "boys" are looking pretty old, PP. Something about that receding hairline just doesn't match up with "boys".

These can bring tears to my eyes:

Holy Water, by Big and Rich
Believe, by Brooks and Dunn
Skin, by Sawyer Brown
You Raise Me Up, by Josh Groban
The Battle Hymn of the Republic, by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir
Amazing Grace, by any bagpiper

I think of all music that I like as "uplifting."

Gaz, I think this depends on your interpretation of what constitutes "good, spiritual music". I don't find contemporary country music with its hallmark card lyrics uplifting. I find it cheesy and often laughable. Maybe I'm just too cynical. The most uplifting musical experience I've had in the recent past was a Clutch concert...the music brought everyone together, strangers became friends. It was a revival-like atmosphere. I think Clutch would be considered "secular music" by your definition, so maybe the devil was responsible for the good feelings. ;)

Heres the Josh Grobin one for those who would like to hear it, I liked it.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOiTaaoKca4

The idea here guys is music that is someway connected to being in the form of a testimony concerning God. I realize that there is plenty of music to inspire people in regards to a number of attitudes. What I was hoping for here is a place to share inspiration concerning heavenly things. My bad for not explaining myself better.

Heres a more Rock and Roll style song for Silent kid:

I always thought My Sweet Lord by George Harrison was the best song with a religious theme.
