Brethren (and sistren), adieu
After quite possibly the worst week of my life, I've decided to quit posting on this board and others like it. I have things I need to work on in my life, and this is mostly a distraction from that. I count you all as great friends, and I am glad I know you. This place serves an important purpose in offering a less-hostile place than other places for us wretched unbelievers to discuss things that matter to us. Thank you, Dr. Shades, for giving me a place to talk and to whine and to laugh over these past several months.
I'm heading off to Utah in a couple of weeks, and I expect things will go well for us there. Keep in touch, and I promise I'll always write back. But I need to back off from posting and focus on things that will improve my life and benefit my family.
I haven't always lived up to my own standards of behavior here, and for that I apologize. I have no ill will towards anyone (though I'm still miffed that Dr. Peterson won't apologize--well, not really). Take care, and be good to each other.
John

Good luck John. It was good talking to you, and I have a lot of empathy for your situation. I'm sort of not doing a lot of posting right now myself, for multiple reasons I guess, but also just because I'm beginning to tire of the whole apologetic/critic circular argument. I was gone for a week on a family vacation, and since I came back I've had a very low desire to even check out what's current at MAD, and only somewhat more desire to check out what's going on here. Unlike for TBMs, for whom "the church is true" pretty much must remain a central topic in their lives, "the church isn't true" doesn't need to stay central in mine. I guess that's the beauty of it.
Anyhow, good luck to you, and good luck living in Utah. I don't know if I could deal with that again, knowing what I know now about the virtual reality that is the world seen through TBM lenses.

Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

What am I supposed to apologize for?

You're one of the best, John. My very best wishes to you and your family.
