Per the OP question...

I'm guessing that Mr. Scratch is an old ZLMB participant under a different name. But then, I have no idea which ZLMB participant that would be; and, frankly, might well be wrong about the ZLMB connection altogether.

Does that help?

Don

I don't know if he was from ZLMB, but I've always surmised that he is a poster who was not "new" to the LDS message board scene.

Ray, I'll give you my take on the Mr.; for what it's worth. My theory is that "Mr. Scratch" is someone that old timers on these boards might know under another name. He is an interesting fellow (I do believe he is male) partly because he is protective of his identity and I think that is one reason some of us might be curious about him.

While Liz might believe what he's said about himself, I take it with a bit of skepticism. I'm not sure if he is actually married and I'm skeptical that he is LDS--maybe he has LDS roots, but never baptized. Or he may have been LDS at one time, however, I'd be very surprised if he is active and if he was, I'd say it was a long time ago. He does have a basic knowledge of LDS doctrines but he promotes ideas that a person who is active and knowleadgeable would know are not true. I think he has a lot of book learning on LDS, which may explain where he gets some of his ideas.

One thing about him, though he can be charming and witty, he does have a less attractive side which, when pushed into a corner, can flare. But then, he gets his composure back and that "scary side" is gone. He reminds me of another fellow on a board I used to frequent years ago.

Not a bad analysis at all, A.I.. At least you entertain a healthy skepticism. I am really unsure what to believe or not believe about what Scratch writes.

Maybe Scratch is Ted Kennedy himself?
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Teddy? Now this is one time where I'd have to come to Scratch's defense if this claim were ever seriously made.

Scratch is more of a smarmy Jonothan Kozol type leftist, but not Kennedyesque.
The face of sin today often wears the mask of tolerance.

Maybe he's Mitt Romney, afraid his posting might hurt his chances politically.

Yeah that was a little low of me. Nobody deserves to be compared to Ted Kennedy.

I know who you are. A hate filled jackass, that's who.

What is really sad is that I used to be like you.

You sad poor little man.

Ya know, in a region where Mormons are comparable in membership to the moonies, I think your little bishop power trip (or were you just a branch president?) made you go nanners.

You doing OK ray? Need to have Dr Wazoo Cornholenelius check you into his intervention clinic?

The Thorazine is waiting for you Ray.

And what a sad, pathetic angry exmo you are. At least Porter has a sense of humour. Did the cat get yours? In fact, among most of the angry exmos I know, like Nort and Sam, though I entirely disagree with them, one thing I will give them is that they're witty and intelligent - something, sadly, I can't say in your favour.
