For what it's worth, my mendacious and malevolent stalker over at the Shades Obsession Board claims that at least somebody here feels positively about the Mountain Meadows Massacre.

I don't recall ever seeing anything here to that effect, but, of course, I could be mistaken. Unlikely as it is, my stalker could, for once, actually be telling the truth. I mean, it's not totally inconceivable . . .

Anyway, if such a massacre fan actually exists, I hope that he or she will come forward. Don't be shy! If you believe that the Mountain Meadows Massacre was a good thing, say so!

The fact is that runtu has always been a calm and fair poster. His behavior is usually exemplary. Daniel was mistaken on a couple of fronts....

First, I don't see Runtu's name in that bit you quoted.
Second, to anyone who knows the history, it makes perfect sense that DCP was talking about Mister Scratch.

I'm confused. I don't see why you guys think DCP owes Runtu an apology. Is it more of the same string of jokes?
It does make sense that Runtu would referred to this jokingly, since it appears to have no serious basis.

By nice mercuraweenie. If it is Dan Peterson snottiness is not needed. I know it is hard for you to control yourself but try for once.

Huh? Why, because there is a special place you hold in your colon for him?

I didn't think you could control yourself. But as for Dan Peterson if he is here it may be just nice to be civil in discussions with the man.

To me irrational individuals are equally worthless.

You think you are rational. What a funny little boy you are.

I will not hold pseudoscientific individuals such as mr peterson in high regard just as I do not hold other historical revisionists in high regard.

It is possible to be civil with someone you may not hold in high regard or any regard at all. I know this is a tough concept for such an angry man like you are though. Therapy may help with that.

Runtu was the one who said it (someone at MAD felt positively about MMM).
WK: "Joseph Smith asserted that the Book of Mormon peoples were the original inhabitants of the americas"
Will Schryver: "No, he didn’t." 3/19/08
Still waiting for Will to back this up...

I think it was always 97% joke, and though apparently DCP did mix runtu up with someone else, he did say that a lie had been told when it hadn't.

I figured once DCP appeared here runtu felt like taking one last half-laughing shot at it.

It's only Ray A who elevated this running joke to some kind of un-magnificent obsession.

MG: as did I. We had a few conversations that I feel were fairly productive and civil. More than I can say for the repetitive whining that I observe as I periodically check this board.

Best wishes to you.

Ya know, I've noticed that more than a few of our infrequent visitors have leveled this type of gratituous complaint about this board on this thread of Runtu's. I find this sniping not just misplaced but downright rude. If you want to complain about this board, start a thread about it, don't muck this thread with it. Be the civil poster you want to see here.

I wish you and your family all the best in your new environs.

Please, stay in touch.

A big thanks for all that you gave the board.

Who Knows is correct, dude. Runtu was the poster who made the comment about vaguely remembering someone saying something positive about MMM on MAD, not scratch. DCP reported it to the MAD board without paying close attention to who said it. I suspect if he had paid closer attention and realized runtu was the poster making the comment, and not scratch, he would not have reacted in the manner he did.

I do believe runtu was always half joking when he talked about the incident, which is why I think it was poor form for Ray to beat him up over it, particularly when he's had such a rough time lately. There are posters here who dish it out and deserve to take it right back, but runtu is not one of those posters.

Here is the post in question:

Actually, I recall someone on FAIR/MAD speaking quite positively about the MMM. Can't remember what the point was, but I thought it was appalling.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.
