And why in the world would they include those scenes anyway? The movie would have been just as good without them. They actually added nothing to the film, they seem to only be there for the shock value (or whatever).

I posted earlier in the off-topic forum an interview with Kevin Smith over his efforts to write a script for a superman film. Its filled with bad language (Kevin being Kevin), but it is an interesting insight into how these films are made.

Kids today have only the barest understanding of Transformers. I think the target market was people in their 20's and 30's who grew up watching the show and the original movie. While I liked it I think the film industry's endless reaching into the past to create good movies lately is not a good sign.

Speaking of mining the past, word is that this september they are beginning filming of a Watchmen movie. Its the same director as did the 300 movie.

Dare I SAY SPOILER WARNING:::::SPOILER WARNING

2) Great visuals. The Ministry of Magic looked great, the RoRequirement looked great. Grimwauld Place looked specifically gringy (but sadly we didn't meet Sirius' mum)

I really liked the visuals. I loved the fight scene in the Ministry of Magic between the Order and the Death eaters as well as between Lord V. and Dumbledore.

3) Above average acting. The kids aren't kids anymore, are they? They actually can act now. Whoever did Luna really nailed the "dreamy nature" I was expecting. The big three were very good. The dude doing Sirius really grew into the role.....too bad they had to kill him.

The dude doing Sirius? http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000198/ Gary Oldman! You know him, you just don't realize it! He's one of my favorite actors. About the killing of him. I was disappointed there wasn't more reflection on this part. They really whizzed right past this. To me, this was something that deserved to have more time spent on it. The audience may have been left wondering what he passed through and what it is precisely. I also didn't see Harry really linger on this at all, which seemed odd as this was something very traumatic for him.

4) Umbridge was a tad disappointing, probleming being that she was so well written that no one could possibly live up to her standards. Which brings us to the main problem with the books being turned into movies.....
I agree, although I thought the woman that did her was funny and pretty good. I liked the little giggles and odd noises she made. I loved the kittens on her walls.

7) Getting subplots in was difficult and I did hate some of the compromises they made (like making Cho the snitch rather than her pal, and the elimination of the subplot with Percy being estranged from his family, not to mention the last chapter with Dumbledore and Harry talking was boiled down to a few sentences [but they got what was needed into the movie]).

This was disappointing to me. I also didn't like that the prophecy bit was sort of glossed over. I sort of liked that Neville and Harry were born on the same day and actually it could be Neville or Harry that the prophecy spoke of. I dream, I guess I'm the only one, that Neville will actually kill Voldermort and be the hero. Guess that ain't happening. Didn't like that they skipped over Harry's anger in the last scene in Dumbledore's office.

9) A couple of great montage scenes happened, where they threw alot of stuff into a few minutes (like the Educational Decrees, and the supression at the school by Umbridge and the gang).....they were quite good at getting alot of things into the movie that they probably wouldn't have gotten in the first couple....the writing/directing team is getting better with each movie.

Absolutely! I was worried about this one, but they pulled it out.

Yeah.....I actually thought there was supposed to be a curtain over the veil.

And I have no excuse for forgetting Oldman (or Alan Rickman, "the dude playing Snape"). Knew who it was, just not his name.

The reason I have avoided, and will continue to avoid the Transformers movie, at all costs, is that Michael Bay directed it. It's not surprising that he would include those types of scenes in one of his movies. He is a hack director. Remember, this is the same guy that did Bad Boys, Bad Boys 2, Armageddon, and Pearl Harbor.

Bond, something tells me you liked the Simpsons Movie.

Just a hunch!

LOL

I've never been that into the Simpsons. Would I still enjoy it?

I'll probably see Ocean's 13 first.

Matt Damon, George Clooney, and Brad Pitt all in the same movie. *contented sigh*

Basically I've been a Simpsons fan since I was like 8.....simply consider this movie a capstone of my childhood. I hope they do a sequel.

Ocean's 13 was actually the best in my opinion....."The Nose" by Matt Damon was classic.....some people said it was too complicated, but that's what makes a movie great in my opinion. And no Julia Roberts and CZJ to slow this movie down.....(like Julia did O12).

Actually, I think that was the fault of the writing. It would have been great to have Julia more involved in the actual "plot" or "sting operation". Her gratuitous involvement in the end was stupid.

One of my favorite lines in Ocean's 11 is: "This is my favorite part of the day."
