What's more fun?

Post by _Tarski »

1. Arguing over why the Mormon church is or isn't true. A battle of ideas and evidences?

or

2. Exmos against apologists tearing into each other on a more personal level? Who's good, who's bad, who's a hypocrit, who's an ass, a hack, who's a liar or criminal etc.

I know both can be fun but which do you like the best?

I prefer reading a good book or writing something solid for publication.

Why on earth am I wasting so much time here?

I choose #1. #2 is incredibly tiresome.

Unfortunately the former almost always leads to the latter, unless there's more moderation, or Moderation. About this I have to confess I'm in two minds.

To answer the question about which I like best: I have so many faces that I'll take both.

What would ultimately be the point, since this is just a matter of preference for a belief system? Your could pile on the evidence and your opponent could just shrug and say they don't care.

Would this serve as some sort of dramatic catharsis for the Exmo? Could they eventually move on with their life once this catharsis has taken place?

I like (1) the best if the topic is right.

(2) is only fun for only so long and it gets to be no fun at all when the insults go way over the top (seldom does anyone really deserve it).

?

They might but they might not. My mind was changed. Also, it hones the intellect and sometimes teaches humility.

Option one is futile and option two isn't entertaining for long. For me, it's nice to exchange ideas and to learn from one another. It's also nice to work out my own thoughts by putting them into written form, which I mostly do for my own benefit and for the benefit of other exmos or questioning Mormons, but I don't know that I'd call it fun. For fun, we need a third option. May I suggest cupcake licking? That's fun, no matter what my Young Women's leaders said!

Cupcake licking? That does sound fun! But surely not in public!
