Ok, a lot of critics don't like Dr. Peterson. We get it. Can we have a few name-calling-free threads now?

PP, Merc and Schmo seem the primary offenders in this regards.

Actually, they've been surprisingly well-behaved of late. Some others haven't been, though.

Thanks, Sethbag. I sincerely appreciate your post.

I'm headed out of town in a few hours anyhow, so there'll be some respite here.

I think you're forgetting where you are Seth. This is Mormondiscussions.com, the little baby brother of RFM. A critical mass of the kind of people you would need to engage in a mature, civil discourse with Dr. Peterson do not exist in this forum, and never will.

Just keeping the Beckwith threads together intellectually was a monumental task. For a clear idea of the general SOP of this board, just take a look here: http://www.mormondiscussions.com/discus ... php?t=2511

This is typical of what you will find here in South Central Anti-Mormonville, and probably a full 90% of what will ever be posted here, given the psychological attributes of most of the posting population, will be of a similar vein.

I'm not at all sure that the kind of serious, extended dialog possible at MAD is possible here. I'd like to believe so, but unfortunately, I don't.

Perhaps we should all look to the MMM thread at MAD to see the sort of discourse that the MADites have on a regular basis. I particularly was impressed that they made fun of murdered victim’s descendants. Ah, high brow stuff that!

***EDITED TO ADD*** In case anyone doesn't get the sarcasm I'll explain. One thread is not indicative of the entire board.

I didn't claim that everything at MAD is pristine, but compared to this forum, and most others, its a paradise. I haven't read that MMM thread, and so can't comment upon it (and I don't intend to, only because MMM is a dead and buried subject for anyone who has any clear understanding of it. Its usefulness in LDS church bashing ended generations ago).

I myself was somewhat skeptical of certain claims by MMM descendants, but I hope you don't have me in mind here.

Again, I ask you, Cog, if MAD is so much of a paradise, why is it that you choose to primarily post here?

I've outlined on another thread on MAD who specifically was mocking the descendents. You and your comments were not included Dr. Peterson. There were people on that thread that were mocking, and I outlined this for selek. I unfortunately did not understand, at that time, that there were 2 groups of descendents that were being spoken about. Nevertheless as an outsider I was mortified at some of the comments. And I think rightly so.

It's unfortunate for me, being online now as I am, that I am so easily riled by people being rude and disgusting to our fellow humans. I find that here as much as I do there. I've stated before that I want to get thicker skin. However, I've decided I won't. I don't whine about things to change the world, I do it so the world doesn't change me. If it's a disgusting sentiment it is still a disgusting sentiment no matter who makes the charge.

Show me a thread where I have called Daniel a name in response to a thread or post of his.

I will give Dan one thing above all Mormons on this board.

I'd say he's really one of the few who have the right to defend the church. The rest of y'all fall short with your movie watching habits, disagreements with the doctrines, not following the consel of the leaders, and inactivity. Oh and any of you lady Mormons with more than one set of ear piercings.
