This story is heart-breaking every time I hear it. :(

But you do have a new girlfriend now. :)

Maybe things will work out even better than they would have with the other girl. I mean, let's face it. If the other girl would betray you like that, then she isn't someone you should really be sharing your life with anyway.

She didn't betray me, she made a choice. And it was a difficult choice. I told her to figure out what she wanted. She picked him and after working through pain it's fine. We're still friends and the feelings are gone. Party at their place tomorrow night :) I'm making brownies.

Might be a girlfriend, we haven't moved that far, we're seeing each other a lot.

Acts of the Apostles

21-22 "Judas must now be replaced. The replacement must come from the company of men who stayed together with us from the time Jesus was baptized by John up to the day of his ascension, designated along with us as a witness to his resurrection."

23-26 They nominated two: Joseph Barsabbas, nicknamed Justus, and Matthias. Then they prayed, "You, O God, know every one of us inside and out. Make plain which of these two men you choose to take the place in this ministry and leadership that Judas threw away in order to go his own way." They then drew straws. Matthias won and was counted in with the eleven apostles.
----

The scriptural precedence here for tough choices in picking the next Apostle is drawing straws.

I've heard (though I can't reference it, it's second-hand information) that in some cases that method has been used.

I feel people expect too much with leaders, they expect them to be clairvoyant in knowing what to do in every situation. They don’t, for example, the Church has experts in various fields to help them writing new Church teaching manuals.
In addition, I have heard several times something I never thought of before; people submit people’s names for Church positions, like Mission President and various General Authority positions.
