Which doesn't make for very substantive or very interesting conversation, actually.
Do you really find Scratch One and Scratch Two's interminable admit-that-you-ran-a-campaign-to-smear-Mike-Quinn threads gripping, beyond the first seventy pages or so?
No, but thankfully there are a lot of other posts on this board than just that.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

Of course they are happy with it. Should they be? No. But are they? Yes, rather in the same fashion as a parent who is, despite his/her better judgment, happy with an underachieving child.
I wonder if the moderating has taken its toll.
Yes, it definitely had.
Most of the contributors in the threads I skimmed through seemed very, very green. The critics are pretty mellow and drowned out by numbers. Maybe there is some revenge for the admins there to relish, but doesn't FAIR/MAD have loftier goals? Given how they are enamored with "scholars"?
Speaking of which, what became of the Pundits Forum? I have not heard anything new or interesting about that in quite a while.

I would guess that most find it about as gripping as you and Smac high-fiving each other over irrelevant thread derailments in which you attack Jaybear in utterly juvenile fashion, or toss off derisive one-liners at cinepro, of all people. I certainly know that that level of mature discourse is a real thrill for me.

As I've noted for a long time, you're not overly interested in reality, so I'm happy to know that your misreading of the thread thrills you. You've got to get some sort of enjoyment out of life, I suppose.

Wha...? Are you now trying to claim that your jab at cinepro, and your remarks to Jaybear were actually substantive and mature? Face it, my dear Prof. P---the atmosphere at the fittingly named MADboard does not lend itself to quality intellectual discussion anymore than this one or ZLMB. In fact, a strong case can be made that the harsh moderating tactics actually stifle debate at MAD.
We seem to be morphing into the hip/cool board....I mean DCP is posting over here.....who's cooler than DCP? (Steuss......)

I'm convinced that most of what we see on these boards has more to do with personality and the notion of winning or losing than it does with the validity of Mormonism.
You know, I tend to agree with you Runtu, but what exactly is there to "win" or "lose". That's what I don't understand.
