1. And it came to pass that Schmo, the saint of partial jocularity, did stand upon the discarded box which at one time contained soap, and harkened to those within the shot of the ear:
2. I have been to the great cities, with the spacious buildings, and the mountainous steps to their breaches.
3. ‘Twas one great and spacious building that I did find mine self at the summit of such a staircase.
4. And with me was a woman of great age, and she did look down upon the steps with great trepidation.
5. And I, feeling love in mine heart and empathy for her fear, did ask unto her:
6. Wouldst thou liketh assistance to trespass the steps, to seek out their bottom by the road?
7. And she did express great gratitude, and queried whether I was ever a scout as a boy, to which I answered,
8. Yes.
9. But I did withhold mine opinion of the boyish scouts, for I did look upon them as stick-rubbing sodomites.
10. And it came to pass that I did hold the aged woman’s arm, and did then proceed to lead her down the great and highish steps.
11. And I did find in mine self great surprise at her alacrity, for she didst outpace me by twice.
12. ‘Twas in this way that she frightened me, and a voice inside me did harken unto me, saying, Let go of thy woman’s arm, for if thy hold to her flesh, thou shalt surely fall.
13. And so, I did that which the voice commanded me.
14. In brittle sounds of dried bones cracking, the woman her self did fall, with much bouncing and cringing, until she did come to a moaning rest on the path aside the road.
15. And I did cry out to the voice which did speak to me, and had occasion to wonder:
16. Should I have removed the aged woman from her wheeled chair?
17. And the people who did listen to Schmo speaking upon his discarded box which at one time contained soap did throw tomatoes at him which had passed their prime.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.
