This is a link to an interesting statistical tool Google makes available. It displays a function of the frequency of a term being searched for via Googles engines Vs time. Not only that but it records the geographical location details and a ratio of geographical locations hittingthe term into google.

Nice feature but is there any reference. Obviously searches have gone up do they have any measurement as a total?

I don't think this is incredibly scientific unless compared with a delta originating from other data.
As a whole it might be useful in a sociology class or maybe a linguistically inclined anthro student.
