My opinion has been mostly formed by talking to friends and colleagues in the biological sciences, marine biologists for the most part.

Although this was 3-4 years ago, when I was studying Geology trying to reclaim my youth from the slavery of state govt. IT, I think a very fence sitting approach was given. All in all they were highly skeptical of the influence volcanism and natural biological processes have on the environment. This includes a Petrologist and a water resource management grad.
I am not saying I would ever pass up an opportunity to hear from a marine biologist, but I would also like to hear from an Economist with a background in climatology and a slew of other professions.
Its a BIG Big world...and I am not sure if the hype matches the science. This is another Darfur, Somalia, world hunger or whatever it takes to get millions of people gathered together in a big jiant circle jerk. They print CD's, sell tshirts, truck in the media and at the end of the day top of the line Pop culture is protected while money is dispersed to foundations and funds.
Darfur I can get behind. I damned hate this Global warming stuff. Unless they plan to Teraform this place were going to be growing oranges in Alaska whether Bono likes it or not.
