Emma Smith goes Hollywood! ...
Well, at least Utah's version of "Hollywood." See link below to article in the Trib about a new movie planned for the life of Emma Smith. I wonder if they'll include a scene of Emma's pushing Eliza Snow (supposedly pregnant by Joseph) down the steps? ;)

Interesting article, Rollo.
Hey is the story about Emma pushing Eliza Snow down the stairs really true?
I've heard that it's one of those "Mormon legends".
Does anyone have the "real skinny" on that one?

Thanks for the heads up, Rollo. I can't imagine this being a Mormon faith promoting movie. Emma's husband was having relations of whatever you want to define it as, with the entire relief society presidency even during the time they signed an affidavit denouncing spiritual wifery/polygamy.
So far as the pushing down the stairs story, there is much evidence brought out by the RLDS that it could not have occurred the way "eyewitnesses" testified. If you've seen the stairs, it would be impossible for Charles C. Rich to witness anything but the top of the stairs although he says he saw the kiss from Smith to both Emma and Eliza. According to the RLDS, Snow taught (the Smith children) at school during the week she moved out. Difficult to do after suffering a miscariage the night before and sporting a hip injury as well.
I think you can read this online:
"Joseph Smith Fought Polygamy", Volume 1, Richard and Pamela Price
www.restorationbookstore.com
You may notice there is one obvious underlying invalid assumption about the book.

I don't know where to find the reference online, but William E. McLellin, former apostle under Joseph Smith, responded to a letter from Joseph Smith III. In his response, talking about polygamy, McLellin referred to the incident of Emma pushing Eliza down the stairs, reminding JSIII that he himself (JSIII) had witnessed it as a child. McLellin told JSIII of the reason the push was made: Eliza was Joseph Smith Jr.'s plural wife.
So, if you can find that letter online somewhere, that'll give you the real skinny. Yes, it happened.
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

my response to this subject at MA&D:
are they going to have the scene where Emma is trying to get into a room and Joseph is holding the door with one of the Partridge sisters in the room. That would be a good trailer.
scene: emma at door trying to push it open..
Emma: "Joseph, are you in there?"
Their response:
Karl - this is a totally inflammatory post. Take it somewhere else. You've been warned. Now you're banned. ~mods
