Then what you lost wasn't as important to you as you thought it was.

Sometimes these boards reveal more than we want them to reveal. If Nehor lived in my stake, I'd have no qualms in advising my unmarried daughter that he isn't marriage material.

I refused in anger and his reply was, "You covenanted to obey me in all things. I call you to your oath. OBEY!!!!!!" It took two days of near constant commands before I acceded. I was angry, hurt, broken, empty, and was all out of tears. In the back of my mind when I gave up I hoped that this was a test I just had to agree to and then the command would be lifted once I passed and Isaac would be allowed to get off the altar. Nope, I had to kill him. It sucked but I wouldn't trade what I learned for anything....even what I lost.

Nehor,

Did God insist you dispatch your pet hamster Isaac or is this a murder confession? Did I totally miss something? I thought I remembered seeing your picture somewhere before. Maybe it was at the postoffice?

The Nehor wrote:There is scriptural precedent for being told to do unreasonable things you find disgusting (Abraham and Isaac). Abraham had to choose between love and trust in God and love and protectiveness towards his child. Could Joseph have faced the same thing by being asked to choose between trust in God and devotion to his wife? Perhaps not incidental that they are both mentioned in previous verse.

I was thinking the answer might be along similar lines, but I'm not so sure how far it works out. For one, Abraham's hand was stayed, but Joseph's wasn't. And yet Emma's was. But in the case of Emma, it appears that she already sacrificed much even without being offered whatever it was. Furthermore, it sounds very strange in that it was offered to Emma instead of Emma being commanded to take them and then being told not to (as with Abraham). I vote that verse as the strangest scripture ever.

That's General Leo. He could be my friend if he weren't my enemy.

Sometimes, we read into people's character things we think we see (due to whatever hubris we may be suffering) when it's most likely we haven't a clue what we're talking about.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

I'm not wanting to go into what it was all about.
